*Jakes POV*
I can't believe I found Violet and Robin after all this time. I really missed them, the way they were so crazy and made me laugh all the time, the way they know just how to cheer me up, they're both wonderful. I'm also wondering who's going to move into the house next to Robins. We have been talking about everything that's been going on over the past two years I've been away, its amazing how much has happened, though when I joke around saying if they're any 'meanies for me to crush' (I said that a lot in kindergarten and its been an inside joke ever since.) They both would look away and change the subject, I'm not an idiot, something is happening here. "Guys are you sure nothing's happening?," I ask frowning at Violet.
"I'm sure Jake, just drop the subject," says Violet in a really small voice.
"Whatever, so what's the high school like?," I question.
"Well, its, high school," we all burst out laughing after that. Of course Violet would say that Violet can always be pretty blunt. But, that's what I love about her, how blunt she is, how funny she can be, how upbeat she always is no matter what. Violets just awesome, and I intend to keep my promise I made to her before I left. That's right, I remember, and I know just how to do it. I even got her a promise ring.
"Alright, here's my house, be right back," I run into the porch and go to open the door when Robin shouts. "Grab footies if you have any!"
"Okay! Meet you guys at your house," I call back. They start walking again and I go in.
"Jake! Is that you!" calls my mom from somewhere in the maze of boxes.
"Yeah, mom! It's me! I came back with groceries!," I fight my way through the boxes and find my mom unpacking in the kitchen.
"Hey dear, thank you for getting the groceries," she smiles and takes the bags out of my hands.
"You'll never believe who I found at the store," I get on the counter as she's putting away the groceries.
"Who hon?" she looks at me out of the corner of her eye.
"Violet and Robin," I grin.
"Oh honey that's fantastic, now you can all be friends again!" she squeals hugging me tightly.
"I know, do you mind if I stay at Robins for the night, please?," I ask with hopeful eyes.
"Of course," I jump up and put my fists in the air.
"Yes! Thanks, mom!," I celebrate.
"No problem dear, now go and pack for your sleepover," I run up to my already unpacked room. I grab my blue sports bag and stuff a pair of clothes, my toothbrush, my comb, and my Ninja Turtle footsies. I throw the bag over my shoulder, run out the door and down the sidewalk. When I run into someone, we both land with a thud.
"Ow, hey watch it, dude," he grumbles.
"Sorry man didn't see ya there," I chuckle.
"It's okay," we both stand up and stop in our tracks.
"Ross?!," his eyes widen.
"Jake! Hey man!" we give each other a bro hug.
"You back in town?" he asks shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Sure am, in fact, that's my house over there," I point to my house and he quickly looks over at it.
"Cool, I have to go through, we're having a neighborhood cookout at my house tonight, my brothers are passing out invites, my sister, mother, and Ratliff are setting up, and I have to go get food soya, bye," he leaves abruptly walking away. Ross's parents and mine are friends so when we were little we would hang out a lot, then something happened to his mom, and our parents didn't hang out so much. When that happened I guess we just hung out less. I continue on my way to Rob's house, I walk up to the porch and knock on the door. They both answer it with a squeal and pull me inside.
