The underground facility is amazingly huge. Eight stories deep with every floor being different. You see I started from the bottom where all the beginners go, but surely you are promoted to work above in more important things like the human anatomy or cancer. In total there's about 2,000 of us scientist. Only 2,000 considering its top secret. So of course I was shocked when I first heard of it. A private government underground facility and I was chosen to work there. We all get to wear those white fancy coats and be extremely cautious which I dislike. I'm not one who is clean all the time. I am a mess. But down there everything is so white, bright which I don't mind because I've always wanted to work in a place like that don't get me wrong the only problem is its 110% sanitized.
My favorite part will forever be the elevator ride. It felt like a roller coaster but once I nearly threw up. One day the elevator stopped working, scariest day of my life but besides that everything was fine. I'm not going to lie I sometimes felt trap down there. So it's when I started pushing myself to get noticed. Noticed meaning as in asking to be part of projects an showing them I can. 'Them' are the ones we work for. The ones I now call traitors.
I passed all tests and moved my way up to projects that required us to travel and that's when all the fun began. I met so many people, learned to speak in different languages, helped many recover from diseases, saw so many new places, and most importantly discovered new things. It reminded me as a child when I would live in the middle of nowhere and studied plants.
After pursuing what I wanted in a few years I decided I wanted to work in other things. Different project, difficult tasks just to challenge myself, and that's how I was assigned to work on the brain. The biggest unsolved case of all time, dreams. Before even beginning all of this there was a list of questions and I thought I had questions. I wasn't the only one who wondered, wondered as much at least. Many of us had the same questions, for instance 'where do they come from?' Well the brain of course but 'how are they created?'
Thats how our investigation began. At the time it all seemed like an amazing idea. The world was finally able to understand the purpose of dreams although it would have taken a few years. Studying the brain especially dreams isn't easy. But in 3 years we discovered something extraordinary. Yes there were many questions out there but the most popular one from all had to be 'why didn't I have a dream' I wondered this myself quite a few times. But truth is everyone does just not everyone remembers. So we invented this pill.
Terrible, terrible, terrible mistake. The pill worked perfectly fine. People were able to sleep, dream, and relax. It even cured stress, tension, and headaches. 95% of people whos taken it have improved their sleeping and the other 5% are either allergic or haven't tried it. Alot of the scientist gave it a try, myself included. Mainly because for a while I stopped dreaming or perhaps I was extremly tired for me to pay attention. The pill worked for me. Before I knew it my wild imagination was running free again and secretly I was writing them down again but shortly stopped.
Until the unexpected started happening.
