The girl looked down, almost in a trance brought upon by lonesomeness. In her daze, she bumped into another student almost twice as tall as her. She flinched backwards and replied,
"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you."
She glanced upwards to see a notepad with the words 'Are you ok?'. She thought for a minute and muttered,
"Yeah, I'm fine. Now, if you will excuse me....."
She darted past the person, embarrassed at her own awkwardness. She felt warm tears welling up, and wiped them quickly away using her damp sleeve cloth. She glanced quickly to her left and right, clutching her oversized briefcase in her arms whist frantically looking for her class. She wanted to ask someone in the hall who looked like they knew where everything was, but the hallways were clearing out rapidly. She began to jog, looking down the halls for room 9-A.
In her dismay, she didnt hear the bell ring. She found the room at the end of the hall labeled 9-A. She burst in through the doors and tripped on her own feet in the process. Her loud 'thump' caused the students and the teacher to dart their heads her way. She sat up quickly, fumbling with her open briefcase, trying to gather her papers. She stuttered out,
"I am sorry that, I um, am a little bit late. I hope I didnt disrupt too much."
The male teacher let out a sigh and pointed to an empty seat by a window. She bowed quickly, her cheeks as red as a tomato. She plopped down in her seat, adjusting her skirt and placing her briefcase to her side.
The Literature lesson of that day was highly boring, so she eventually turned her attention to the scenery outside. There were many trees in which she assumed to be cherry, scattered with benches repainted for the school year. She smiled lightly, seeing a boy walking under the trees. He sat down and began to sketch something."SLACK" A ruler slammed itself down onto Hekate's desk. She jumped a bit and looked toward the angry teacher.
"Miss Fortune, I would appreciate it if you would be on time and pay attention to my class. Now, The Odyssey-"
Once again, she felt tears of embarrassment clouding her eyes. She tried to conceal them by wiping, but no no avail. She turned her head to the window, trying to hide her shame. Still sitting, was the boy sketching. He turned his head in her direction on the 3rd floor, and smiled her way. She flushed a deeper shade of red and smiled a bit. She adjusted her mat black glasses and waved at him.
The bell startled her out of her view and she picked up her briefcase and flashed out the door, leaving the boy in the garden to himself.
