Chloe's POV

After I phoned my mom yesterday and informed her that I was sent to the hospital, she was terrified and rushed with my dad to see me as soon as possible.

Out of worrisome, dad almost bursted out his rants and dismay in my face.

"You! My big wicked witch keeps on making my liver fell!" my dad blurted out of anger.

I just looked down at my fingers to avoid my dad's bulging eyes. Luckly, my "NFF" or should I say, my "new-found-friend", Xian "defended" me from my father's horrible approach.

"With all due respect Sir..."he started. "What happened was not An-, I mean Chloe's fault. She was sick and I guess that's just normal. We all get sick."

"And who are you young man to lecture me?"he got now my dad's attention.

"Oh, sorry! My bad, I apologize for not introducing myself. My name is Xian, I was the one who brought her here last night."

He started discussing what had happened to me. Dad was hesitant to believe the broody guy at first, he even kept on throwing him a suspicious or some sort of I've-got-the-eye-of-the-tiger look for interrupting his scolding session with me.

"Now that was disrespectful."

I laughed at my own thoughts. It was only when Dr. Belle Godfrey arrived and supported Xian's explanations that dad calmed down and thanked him for his generosity and concern.

The two of them got along with each other easily, which was pretty surprising since dad was the type of person who only talks to people with power and of course, business. They discussed several stuffs about my dad's construction company. Dad was having a good conversation with him, while my mom was sitting beside me in my bed together with Belle. She started discussing my condition and the results of my laboratory exams to her. I noticed Xian's fondness while talking to my dad, as well as his constant glare towards my direction. It sent some uneasiness and trouble to my inner goddess.

Before he could do it again, I stood up and excused myself from Dr. Godfrey and mom. I went to the bathroom to bring back my sanity, which I never knew that had almost left me, until now. I stayed for a couple of minutes inside, closing all the people behind. I let out a sigh before I decided to face them again.

The four of them including Dr. Godfrey were discussing about something I couldn't hear clearly as I stepped outside the bathroom. Xian, who looked bored, sat beside me in my hospital bed and bumped his shoulder against mine.

"Hey!"he whispered. I looked at him and smiled. "You okay?"

I nodded, my body felt stiff. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for saving me from my dad's claws earlier."
