Snow has come. It has put a very long and hard time on the herd. I have lost my baby fur and my adult fur is coming in. I have grown about as tall as my mom. My mom started coughing lately. She says that she is fine, but I don't believe her. I try to bring her some herbs that I have scrounged for lately, in case of this type of problem. She ,at eat like one or two of the, because she doesn't want me worrying about her. She hasn't been eating a whole lot since winter has came. Usually the herd would do any thing for a piece of nice green grass. Oh yeah I just started eating grass now to. It is way better, just like mother had said. There are a lot of shrubs around. I like to nibble on them for anything that might taste good.

One day later*

Mother was laying still on the ground. I run over to her to find her barely breathing. I lay next to her trying to keep her warm. It doesn't work. Soon I am asleep and dreaming. I see the whole herd....even Elizabeth. I prance over to her to give her a hug. She disappears. Soon the whole herd disappears and I am the only one left. I wake up to my father nuzzling me. I look at mom and she had passed away. I stare at her for a moment. I nuzzle her to wake up, but she doesn't. I begin to cry, but father nudges me to the herd. I keep my head low, and think about Elizabeth and mom. I miss them both. I wish they where here to comfort me. As I see my cousin and aunt I walk over to them. She shoves me away. Apparently I'm not family to her no more....since mom is dead now. I see my cousin stitch nibbling on some bushes. I walk over to him and he turns away from me to. I began to cry. It seems no one wants me here. So I just keep to myself for awhile until spring comes along.
