A few weeks went by and we were all great friends. I still kept my secret. About who my dad is. About where I live. About what I knew about 'The Beast'. And about why I don't play baseball anymore. A new guy got welcomed onto the team. At first, they didn't like him. But after a while, they were okay with it. Me and some of the guys have gotten closer than I would have thought. Benny, Squints, Smalls (the new guy), and Ham are like my best friends. And me and Yeah-Yeah have gotten closer. But I don't see him as a best friend. I like him way more than that.

Well, a couple of days ago, the most amazing thing and the most terrible thing happened. The amazing thing was that Benny busted the guts out of a baseball he hit. The terrible thing is Smalls hit a baseball over the fence. It was signed by my dad, Babe Ruth. They have tried many things to get it back, but Hercules won't let them. I guess he's still get his mind set on gaurding that place.

We're all sitting in the dugout today. Trying to think of a new plan to get the ball back. I don't know why but I still haven't told them the truth. I think Yeah-Yeah is suspicious, though. He saw me climbing the fence the other day. I lied and told him I just wanted to see what 'The Beast' really looked like.

"Hey, Yeah-Yeah. Will you walk with me?" I asked.

I don't know what I'm doing. Why did I just say that?

"Sure." he said.

We got up and exited the sandlot. We started walking down the street.

"Where are we going?" he asked.

"I don't know. I just had to get out of there." I said.

That was partly the truth. But I also felt guilty. If I would just be brave enough to tell them all the truth, then Smalls would easily have that ball back.

"What's bothering you?" he asked.

"Nothing." I lied.

"Look, Ariel. I've known you long enough to know when somethings bothering you. Now tell me what's wrong." he said.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." I said.

Why did I say that? What am I doing? Am I going to tell him the truth? He stopped walking and faced me.

"I would believe you. I don't care how crazy it sounds, I would still believe you." he said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I like you. I like you a lot, Ariel." he said.

"I-I like you a lot, too." I said. He smiled.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked.

"Yeah." I said.
