Chapter 6: Second Step

"Andy..."

The toddler felt his head being stroke by a familiar hand..

"Mommy...your.." ,he woke up from the side of the patient bed in udder shock of happiness.

"Shh..." ,the mother continued to stroke her son's head.

"Now...I want you to remember what I'm going to say.." ,she made a weak smile.

" If I can't make it sooner or later...Mommy wants you to take care of your little sister okay, you have to take care of her..make sure she grow up just as good as you..okay? Protect her, don't be mean because you have to respect each other.." ,the longer she talks, the more sobs could be heard which made the little boy feeling confused.

"Mommy...what are you-" ,A tear fell down Andy's cheek.

" Don't be a crybaby okay? Your my favourite strong boy...how are you going to protect Cherry like that." ,she pinched Andy's little red nose.

The little 7 year old smiled which made his mother heartbroken to leave their children,she couldn't see her son and daughter fully grown up.

"Mommy...why are you crying?!" ,he held his mommy's hand tightly

"No...it's just..I'm so happy that I'd have such a caring son like you" ,tears couldn't stop coming out of her eyes.

Andy hugged his lovely caring mother, not letting to part from her forever.

"Live on..and stop worrying about the past..okay? I'm sorry......" ,she tightly held her son,trying to apologize for not being there for her children, especially her 2 year old daughter.

"Sorry.."

Beep..

Beeeeeep...

" Mom! " ,Andy woke up.

His hand was inserted by a tube to stabilize his dehydration, the room was bright white, by the side of the bed he saw someone ..

" Vi-olet...? " ,the girl was sleeping by the patient bed.

"Hmm..." ,Violet slowly woke up without realising the drool hanging from the edge of her lips.

"An-dy...You're awake!" ,she felt happy ,but also looks like someone who's about to cry.

" I'm so relieved..." ,Andy watched her sobbing besides him.

Andy couldn't remember much from the incident. "How did you--", his mind clicked and somehow he remembered his blur visions, just seconds before he passed out before. There was someone who saved him from being choked, and Andy saw the same hair colour as Violet so his saviour was obviously none other than her.

" idiot! If I weren't there..I don't even know what would happen.. ", Violet scolded him while continuing to sob. " I was scared... "

" Violet... "

His feeling of guiltiness stabbed him hard, " sorry...I'm always an idiot aren't I...I don't even know anymore" ,he looked down to both of his palms in udder regret.

" i wont forgi-- ", Violet held his hand which made the boy flinched and blushed a little.

" thank you.."

"No...I should thank you, after all..i couldn't even save Ellie"

" She was really worried when you fainted..I called emergency afterwards the incident, Cherry was also shocked.." ,both of them seemed calm enough to continue they're conversation.

Andy spaced out a little, " speaking of incident..what happened to that man.. "

Violet stared at the guy with a blank face, " ehh.....we left him (._. ) "

" She's brutal! But anyway good job "

Violet turned to him and made a little smile, " but i'm relieved that your okay.." , Andy felt of wanting to cry but doesn't want to show it.

"Violet....."

"Hmm?"

"your hands are so soft" ,The girl looked at her hands that were wrapped up around Andy's and suddenly let go, her face couldn't get any red. " Ehhh!!....s-sorry ", Both of them didn't even realized it through the whole conversation.

The patient smiled at his neighbour, feeling very grateful for the first time in years.

" Owh, you woke up already..?" ,A voice was heard from the room door, it was the Doctor..he was holding a file, a stiff one. As many typical doctors, he was using round glasses which made him look like a professor rather than a doctor.

" Doctor.." ,Violet stood up from where she sat and bowed.

The Doctor walked besides the patient bed across violet, "are you feeling any better? Is there anywhere that still hurts, any pain..headache? ", he was really gentle and caring, it was obvious that this man was acknowledged by many people.

" everything's fine..I just feel a little weak that's all..but I'll be okay" ,Andy answered with a soothing smile that corresponds the doctor's expression.

The doctor clicked his pen and started to write something on a little note that was pasted on his file. "Then if everything's okay, I guess you will be able to go home tomorrow" . With that said, he turned towards the door and walked out while Violet bowed to him once again.

" how long have I been here..? ", Andy asked the girl calmly.

Violet turned to him with a worried face " 2-2...months..... "

The boy felt really shocked, " how can that be, I--"

Violet suddenly closed her mouth and started to giggle.

" ehh.. (=_=||) ", Andy stared at her.

" I didn't really think you'd fell for it, sorry...it's only been two days" ,she smiled jokingly.

" Ehh!! ", Andy didn't really think Violet was the joking type but he guessed that the world is filled with it's uniqueness.

Both of them smiled and eventually ended up laughing together. It seems as though they haven't had any fun like that with people their own ages, even with Nyle, Andy was always mostly gloomy. The moment they shared was secretly being seeded to their hearts.

" I'll be right back ", Violet made one of her enchanting smiles and left the patient room.

Andy was also showing happiness but only until she left, he sighed and suddenly his vision made him remember of his mother in her patient room.

" Mom... I really miss you, I'm sorry if I'm not strong enough...everything seems to be seeping away little by little..I just couldn't handle it..I really wish you're here right now."

" Krrriiing ", before he even shed any tear, his phone was ringing which snapped him out of his ,loneliness

While the boy was on the phone, Violet was outside the room ,against the wall . Clinging tight the her chest looking worried.
