I woke up the next morning lying between Clay and Liam and internally groaned. It was time to get down to business.

I shook Clay and Liam to wake them up, they both yelled at me because it was 7:00 in the morning and they didn’t want to get up. After I started ‘crying’ over my arm and the fact that I would have a huge scar they both got off their beds and ran to get ready. I really didn’t care that I’d have a scar, I mean it’s not like its gross, actually I think I like it. I ran my finger along my bandage and imagined what my scar would look like since I passed out before I could see the cut on my arm. I came out of my daydream once I heard the boys come back downstairs. I grabbed my blue-jean purse that was more of a shoulder bag than a purse and led the boys out to my red Honda Accord. I jumped into the driver’s seat and both boys got in the back. I sighed.

“I'm not leaving until one of you sits up here with me.” I stated while turning around in my seat to look at them. They took one look at each other and said three words: rock, paper, scissors.

After they fought over the seat, Clayton ended up front with me. I grabbed my iPod from my purse and hooked it up to the speakers. I looked through the playlist and immediately found the perfect song for my situation. I'm The Rehab You’re Drugs by Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.) (A/N: Check it out, it’s my favorite song by them!)

The boys looked at me obviously knowing the lyrics to the song. They held pity in their eyes but not for me, it was for my father because they both know as soon as I get my hand on him I'm going to beat the crap out of him. Clayton reached over and held my hand while he screamed the lyrics. I started singing the ‘I'm the rehab you’re the drugs’ verse when I felt Liam's arms wrap around the seat and hug me. We got to the library right when the song ended. I got out of the car and pulled an unsuspecting Liam into a long hug. He hugged me back and a stray tear fell down my face. I pulled away and Liam wiped away the tear before I turned to Clay and jumped into his arms, his hugs always calm me down, I don’t know what it was about them but I think it was his salty smell that made me think of the ocean waves while Liam on the other hand smelt earthy like the woods. Now look at me! I'm talking about smells like some crazy person! I snapped out of it and let go of clay. “Thank you for being there with me.” I told both of them. “We will always be there for you Rayne.” Clayton said and Liam added “Through thick and thin.” I smiled and we headed into the library.

I asked the lady at the main desk to show us where the public records were and she led us down a long hallway. She opened the very last door on the right and I was about to walk in when she stopped me. “Why do you need the records again?” Ok Rayne, time to lie smoothly. “My History teacher wants us to do a timeline and essay on the town’s history over the past thirty years and I want to be as accurate as I can.” I said sweetly. She smiled and moved her arm. “It’s good to see youngling’s like you take an interest in our history.” I nodded and entered the room. I looked around and saw there had to be at least fifty shelves in here packed to the max with all types of files. I went to the back of the room where the computers were and sat down in front of one.

“So I'm going to cover the database to try and see if I can pull up anything on my dad. You guys can surf the shelves on anything about gangs within the last year or so.” I told them while I typed away on the computer. They agreed and went to work on the shelves.

I opened the browser on the computer and found myself staring at a search box, I quickly typed in Matthew Storm. Instantly I got five leads and I clicked on the first one: Matthew Storm, father of Rayne Storm, wife of Sarah Storm. The link brought me to a page that listed our entire family tree, nothing of use here. I went back to the start page and clicked don the second link.

‘Matthew Storm in debt of $2,000 after daughter was born.’ Hmm this seems promising. I opened the link and found that it was blank… what the hell?! So that leaves me at a dead end.

The rest of the pages were like that, either useless or blank. I logged off and erased the history just in case the lady was to follow up on my lie, and then I opened a link about the town’s history. I got up off the chair and head over to the shelves. “Hey I got something!” I heard Liam yell. I jogged over to him and saw that he was holding a thin file.

“It said that there was a Mike Dalton that got arrested several years ago for assault on an officer and possession of unregistered guns. He has two sons, 24 and 20 named Josh and Randy. It also says that his wife died during an in-home robbery, she was stabbed to death and $1,000 worth of jewelry was stolen, they never found the robber. That was all that was in the file, and that’s the only file on any of them in here.” Liam said.

We all agreed to leave and get some lunch to discuss what we found.

On the way out it was eerie and quiet, too quiet for a library, later we would find out that we were in the middle of a shootout that was yet to begin. We walked out and drove away before anyone started shooting.
