   December 5th, 1995.
A handsome man in a blue tailored suit sits confidently behind the desk of the channel 4 news room. His face is outlined in grief as he looks to the prompt for the breaking news.
"Today we mourn the death of a local hero" he says. "Rex The Wrecker Lecray was found dead on the streets below his penthouse just before 1:00 this morning. We go live to Angel Lively for the unnerving details... Angel?"
It always takes them a minute to answer.
"Yes Richard" says a pretty woman in a black pea coat "im standing here by the Atlanta heights condo building in downtown where rex lecray was found on top of his crushed Bmw. Known for his brawler style and undefeated record in the heavyweight class of American mixed martial arts, as well as the alcohol fueled anger that lead him to many law suits and assault charges both inside and outside of the ring. Police do not suspect foul play, ultimately ruling lecray's cause of death to be suicide."
"Just for anyone at home who might not follow the AMMA" Richard began "Mr. Lecray was not a very old gentleman if im not mistaken. Right angel?"
It always takes them a minute.
"Right you are Richard." angel continued "as a matter of fact, today was his 21st birthday. Last night he successfully defended his championship title for the third time. He was celebrating both his birthday and his victory here at his penthouse in downtown Atlanta when for some unknown reason, he leaped to his death. Rex leaves behind his wife of two years Linda lecray, and their young son kao lecray. Im angel lively reporting for channel 4 news... Atlanta."

He’s tall, abnormally so, and built like his father. Strong and un-moveable, his hair is jet black and falls on his face. The blue eyes of his mother are the only way to tell him apart from his dad. 6 foot 5,230 pounds of American poster child. Anger lives in this young man, but to trigger this anger you must break his moral code... or give him liquor. He sits with posture across from a man with blonde hair and rounded "fashionable" glasses. They are patiently waiting for the commercials to end.
"Were back with undefeated junior AMMA phenomenon Kao Lecray" he said as he looked to camera 3. The audience erupted in cheers and applause. Kao waved with a smile that only he knew was fake, and the overly happy blonde man continued his interview.
"So kao, you only have a few more days until your old enough to join the adult ranks of the AMMA. You sport the same undefeated record in the junior division that your father had. Are you nervous about your first bout with the big boys?"
Kao leaned forward in the soft suede chair and locked his fingers. “Well..." his voice lingered "nervous about what exactly?" he asked in his signature down home Georgia drawl.
The blonde man caught a look of exhaustion "scared of getting the hell beat out of you, what else?" he said
Kao cocked his left cheek in the half smile he was famous for and hung his head for a short second. "Do you know what it means sir?"
"Do i know what it means to what exactly?" the interviewer asked
"Do you know what it means to fight?" kao responded "to be a man of the sword so to speak..."
"I guess not, what does it mean?"
"It means that I’ve been getting the hell beat out of me since i was about 10 years old" Kao responded.
The audience burst into laughter as did the interviewer, but kao is not an idiot. He knows he’s not that funny, and that his name is what makes his charm bearable. He just listens to the labored laughing thinking of how if he was anyone else no one would give him a second thought.
"Ah you are quite the card young man. You take so much after your father"
Except i don’t beat on women, Kao thought.
"You do know that i interviewed your father in the same seat you’re sitting in, some 18 years ago" the man asked.
"Oh you did, like father like son i imagine." Kao responded.
"Yes indeed son" the interviewer continued "but seriously, how is it that you intend to defend your record? It won’t be as easy as the JAMMA you understand?"
"Oh yes sir" Kao replied "I’ve been training my ass off here lately, and my sponsors are putting a lot of money into my future"
"I was under the impression that it was illegal to pay a minor to fight." the man said with concern.
"They don’t pay me sir, they pay my way. Training in Brazil under jujitsu masters, specialized training from the hale house in Greco roman techniques. I’ve fought on every continent, in every style relevant to American mixed martial arts. Im ready sir."
"I can almost bet that you are young man" the interviewer said as he turned his head to the camera "Special thanks to Kao Lecray youngest..."
His voice trailed in Kao's head. If these people only knew me, he thought. If these people only knew how bad I'm going to let them down.
