Its 11:55 pm, kao rests high on the roof top of a building right beside HPC jewelers. He's smoking a cigarette, thinking "if only Lexi could see me now". He's in his Dogma uniform, he's a soldier of fortune, a renegade thief with eyes set on corrupt riches. He ashes his smoke and looks down at his phone, 11:57, time to get ready. he walks to the edge of the roof, the 18th floor of the HPC building is three stories down from the roof top he rests on, a voice comes over his walkie talkie "is everyone in place?" he clicks his code button twice signaling yes. 11:58, a rope is lowered from many stories up in the HPC building and kao takes his mark with the rope in hand. 11:59, Kao's phone rings with a text message. "Hey baby! I know im a minute early but i wanted to make sure i was the first to tell you happy 18th birthday! I love you! :)" kao smiled at the message, no time to text back. He puts up his phone and flicks his cigarette. He holds the rope waiting patiently for the signal. His radio clicks on and after a few seconds, kao hears agent x's voice say "GO!"
"Time to get rich or go to jail trying" kao thought as he burst into a full speed run towards the edge of the building. He held the rope loosely until he reached the edge of the roof, then grabbed on tight and leapt, swinging high over the bustling streets of the southern metropolis. Kao looks down, he feels no fear. He is calm and collected as he reaches the height of the swing and turns his momentum towards the HPC building. The rope catches the corner of the building and he swings around to the face of it. Closer and closer, the wind whipping in his ears sounds like hanging paper out of a car travelling down the interstate. He's just a few yards from the window when he hears the projectile bounce off of it, and sees it shatter the inner layers. "Moment of truth" he thinks. both feet connect with the window at the same time and the glass gives way in sheets, kao's in. he releases the rope and slides in on his knees coming to a stop about 10 feet from the window. He does an immediate survey of the room, no cameras, no guards, and no alarm bells. A seasoned thief knows this can be a good thing or a bad thing, this could be a decoy vault, but oh what a vault it is. A large circular metal door with turn bars and a coding pad rests on the far wall of the room. kao walks up to it slowly, checking the tension in each step as not to trigger any alarm wires or pressure plate security systems, there are none. Kao gets the uneasy feeling that this may be a set up, but there isn't any rabbit blood in kao. He's already here, might as well see what the fuss is about. He reaches out and puts in the 5 digit security over-ride code for this model vault, he does it very quickly, because he's done it before. There is a short hissing sound like steam being released and then several loud clunks as the dead bolts slide out of their holes. Kao reaches and grabs a turn bar, he pulls it down a quarter-turn and the vault pops open with ease. He pushes the communicate button on his walkie "were in boys" he says as he slips into the vault. The inner chamber is relatively empty for its size, a large white square room with nothing but a duffle bag in the center. "Jackpot"
Kao kneels down by the bag and unzips it, the sight before him almost takes his breath. Thousands of large cut diamonds lay in heaps at the bottom of the bag. All of them have a thin strip of paper wrapped around them with their size and worth, printed neatly for any black market buyers convenience. "I'll be damned" kao says in a hushed whisper. He presses his walkie button again "pay dirt". Just then the squeaky, nervous voice of agent q came over the airwaves.
"Agent k! Bad news man the jig is most definitely up! I thought i got rid of all the alarm systems but there was a silent alarm i must have missed! The place is swarming with fuzz dude you got 8 seconds till contact!"
"Son of a..." kao replied "what about the getaway?"
"Your evac route is swamped dude! Im gonna have to guide you out with the walkie using your tracking beacon. Out of the vault first door on your left, go!"
Kao didn't ask any questions. He zipped up the bag as he moved out of the vault and headed left. He sees the door and makes a break for it, just then the door to his right bursts open.
