Kao stood in the conference room, perfect posture and resolve. The room was very large and reminded him of the coliseum in Rome. A giant oval pit lay in the middle of bleacher-type seating that wrapped around the room. He stood facing a set of bleachers that were different in color from the others. While the other bleachers were nothing more than concrete, the section before him had soft red cushions all the way across. This looked to be the "sky box" of the room.
"You guys really like arenas huh?" kao thought
"This is a different kind of arena kao."
"How is that?"
"You'll find out soon."
Double doors directly behind the red bleachers flung open, and Bruto stepped through them. He lazily motioned into the room with one hand and the investors made their way in. they were a prim and proper bunch, all taking delicate steps to ensure they didn't scuff their shoes on the floor. They all made their way to a seat that they had apparently sat in before. Just as Bruto was closing the door, a young, short man with glasses squeezed in and dropped a large stack of papers he was holding. "Oh dear, oh dear. My notes." he said as he knelt down picking them up.
"Halo, how nice of you to join us." Bruto said very loudly as the other investors laughed aloud.
"Yes sir, im terribly sorry im late. I was held up with paper work all evening."
"It's fine. Take your seat." he scrambled to his feet and clumsily made his way to his seat at the very back of the bleachers.
"Who's that guy?" kao asked jack
"That's halo Helena. He's a new investor, made his fortune in the luxury car business. None of the ghouls have accepted a contract from him."
"Well that's sad isn't it?" kao said
"You have to do what's best for the program kao. Don't base your decisions in pity."
A very tall woman sat in the front of the bleachers. She had silver hair down to her back, straight as a board. She wore an elegant dress that tapered around her waist and was just shy of touching the floor.
"My name is Ellen, i will be conducting this examination. First state your full name as it is on your birth certificate."
"Kao, alexander, lecray." he said with great care in his voice
"Yes, Mr. Lecray. We understand that you are a very special young man."
"I've heard worse things said about me i guess" kao said
"Well, to be a member of the gravity clan is a very rare thing Mr. lecray. So rare in fact, that you're the only one left. How do you intend to prove that you are who you say you are?"
"To be honest with you ma'am, it's been everyone else who has said who i am here lately."
"Quite the way with words Mr. Lecray, but we didn't come here to listen to philosophy. We are told you can move things with your power. Is this correct?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Then take this pen from my hand. If you can do that, we will have no choice but to believe you."
She held her hand out flat with a nice metal pen in the center of her palm. She and all the other investors looked on as if they were watching a doctor perform heart surgery.
"Im releasing one percent power kao. That's more than enough to lift a pen."
Jack released the power into kao's spine, kao could feel even this small amount of power tingling in his muscles and up his neck. Kao focused his energy onto the pen, he felt every atom in the pen just as he had felt the rock. The pen began to shake in Ellen's hand and frightened her. She snatched her hand backward, but the pen didn't fall, it floated in the same place like she hadn't moved her hand. The investors were shocked, they looked on with wide eyes at the pen floating in midair. Kao raised it a foot or so above Ellen's head, then focused energy behind it, making it float slowly toward him.
