Chapter 7

"Thank you... We appreciate it." said the leader of the camp. "We shall now withdraw from your town, and my greatest apologies for the destruction."

"Thank you. I know my guild will be pleased." He said with a smile.

He betrayed me... I would have done it myself... I would have asked the reason for all this... I would have forced them to withdraw...

I stood in the corner with two guards on either side of me. I had my mouth taped, and my hands in handcuffs behind my back. I was getting extremely frustrated. I could barely breathe.

The leader turned to the guard next to me.

"Lights out please."

The guard nodded, and cracked me on the back of the head with a long, steel rod.

Lights out all right...

I awoke to the sound of muttering.

Now I'm tied to a chair? I really couldn't move before... I didn't need to be secured any more.

The tape on my mouth was ripped off. My whole face started stinging.

"Kanata..." spoke a deep voice.

"May I ask why I'm here?" I was becoming impatient.

"Because... we need you Kanata... we need you."

"Why?! Let me go!!!!"

"You... a simple young girl... are the only living descendant of Zeref. We need to accumulate that power."

My eyes widened, and my heart was pounding.

"W-Wha...?" Me? The descendant of Zeref? "But... I was raised by a dragon!" I yelled without even thinking.

"Yes, indeed. Raised by one..."

"But... How?"

"Ever wondered why you kill people without even meaning to?"

"But then what was the purpose of the camp?"

"This magic camp was never designed for dangerous mages... It was a magic finding camp. All the mages who possess a similar kind of magic to Zeref's is put in here... but all the prisoners will now be released. We've found who we need."

I paused. Everything I ever knew was a lie... from day one...

"I didn't know Zeref had... children." The thought of it made me shudder.

"You are correct in some ways."

"What?!" I was so confused... "Then h----"

"Enough! Guards! Take her to her cell!!!"

"Wait! Please! Tell me why you--- GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!!!!!!" I screamed at the guards.

Once again, I was being shoved down that long, dark corridor.

And before I knew it, once again I was plunged into darkness.

I sat alone in the dark, only the echoes of my weeping to keep me company.

"Please, someone... I'd rather die than be here..."

I couldn't think straight... descendant of Zeref? What the hell?!

Was this all a dream? Was life just all a dream?

I stood up and kicked the wall.

"Ow! Damn wall..."

I slid back down against the cold bricks.

"Gomene, itsu kara konna ni tomadou... futari ni nachatan darou... gurasu no manatsu ga tokete ku..."

I started to softly sing the song that Erza taught me.

"Gomene, itsu kara konna ni muzukashi... kotoba ni nachatan darou... iitai ni no ni... iienai..."

A tear streamed down my face, and for the next few hours, I sat in silence.
