Reader-Chan POV

I dug my hands deeper into my coat pockets. My hair slashed at my cheeks as the wind blew the freshly fallen snow.

It was Saturday and Gaara suggested we finish our English project over the weekend. I agreed to the idea that his house was where we would continue the project.

I knocked on the door and a surprised Temari greeted me.

"[Y/N]? Did you walk here by yourself? If I knew you were coming I'd have walked you."

"Gaara didn't tell you I was coming over?" I asked as I kicked the snow off my shoes and stepped inside. With the look she gave me, I already knew the answer.

"No, he didn't," Temari spoke as Gaara walked down the last step of the staircase. "Gaara, did you think you could hide [Y/N] coming over?"

Gaara stopped at my side, "I was trying to."

He sported a black long sleeve shirt and light blue skinny jeans.

"You could've at least walked her here."

"I offered but she said no."

"That's no excuse--" My teeth chattering cut her short. "Don't just stand there [Y/N], get your coat off and hang it on the rack," Temari gestured to the coat rack behind me before walking into the connecting kitchen.

I did as told, hanging my coat and stepping out of my snow semi-covered boots.

"Why didn't you wear thicker clothes?" Gaara asked, seeing that I was wearing a thin [S/F/C] long sleeved shirt with blue jeans.

I looked down at my attire, "I don't know, I just grabbed this first."

Gaara's room was freezing. As soon as I walked in a shiver ran up my spine.

"Are you still cold?" Gaara asked, standing in the middle of the room.

His project supplies were already out and on the floor in a neat stack.

I made my way towards him, "A little, but I'll get used to it." Gaara didn't look convinced.

Before I could sit across from him I was pulled onto his lap, my back against his chest as his arms wrapped around my torso. "...Gaara?"

"I'm trying to keep you warm," Gaara breathed, his face in the crook of my neck.

I felt his heartbeat pound at my back. Or was that mine?

"What about the project?" It's not like I don't enjoy being in Gaara's lap, I do but I really want to get this project over with.

"We can still sit like this," Gaara replied, now resting his chin on my head.

"You sure you'll be able to work like this?"

"You sound like you don't want to be in my lap," Gaara stated bluntly.

"No, I do, I just want you to be comfortable..." His arms tightened as a chuckle passed his lips.

It was a light chuckle. It makes me happy when he laughs, and I want to be the only person to make him laugh like this, no matter how selfish it sounds.

 "I am comfortable, [Y/N]."

"Then we can start our project."

In order to get anything done, Gaara told me what to write since he couldn't.

**********

An hour or two later we finally finished, still sitting the way we were before. It was a struggle to pack my stuff back in my bag because Gaara didn't want me moving.

He was playing with the hem of my shirt, his chin resting on my shoulder, "[Y/N]?"

 "Hmm?"

My eyes were closed as I leaned into his chest.

"How do you...feel, about me?" he mumbled.

"In what kinda way? Beyond friendship?" I have took a liking to Gaara, but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with telling him yet.

 "Yeah..."

"Umm, why don't you say first?" I know it was a chicken move but I didn't know what else to do.

"I like you, [Y/N]. Your the only one person that makes me feel this way. And I noticed that when I'm, it make you happy too. But I want to make you happy in more ways that one."

"...I-I like you too, Gaara. And I have for a while now...Sorry, I haven't practiced my speech." My face was burning at its highest and I could feel my heartbeat echoing through my skull.

"It's okay. Just hearing you return my feelings make me happy, which should make you happy," Gaara's smile could be heard in his voice.

I returned the gesture and relaxed against his chest again. Everything was going great until a certain dirty-blonde burst through the door and, once close enough, grabbed my wrist and pulled me up and out of Gaara's grasp.

"Temari?" she looked mad, so I didn't expect her to respond, which she didn't. She dragged me down the stairs as I tried not trip and take us both out.

Once at the bottom, she continued to drag me towards the front door. "Put these on," she commanded, trusting my coat and boots into my arms.

"Why?" 'Is she mad at me? Did she hear mine and Gaara's conversation? If she did, I'd expect her to be happy, not mad.
