Reader-chan POV

   "BA-BEEP! BA-BEEP! BA-BEEP!"

I snapped my eyes open, hearing giggles. I turned my head to see Takashi by my door grinning.

   "Good morning~" he sang obnoxiously.

"You little brat! I had five minutes of sleep left!"

"The early bird gets the worm ~"

"Get. Out.," I said through clenched teeth.

"Make me," the five-year-old said, sticking out his tongue.

I smirked as I threw the comforter back and jumped out of bed, chasing him downstairs. Once I reached the bottom, I picked up Takashi and started twirling around, causing him to scream.

"[Y/N], put your brother down. You need to get ready for school," mom said as she poured herself a cup of coffee.

~Time Skip~

I groaned as I passed the school gates to the stairs. The only part I really like about school is seeing my friends.

As I walked through the door, I caught sight of Gaara. His back was to me so I decided to scare him, or at least try to.

I crept forward, overhearing his conversation, "...Matsuri, she's my friend. I suggest you leave her alone," Gaara sounded scary.

The girl, Matsuri, glared at me before turning and leaving. Gaara was glaring at her back, not moving. But I made my decision.

I threw my arms around his neck from behind. Gaara looked surprised as he tilted his head to look at me. I smiled at him as I hugged tighter, careful not to choke him.

   "Hello."

   "Hi, [Y/N]," he said quietly.

   "Sleep well?"

   "Yeah, you?"

   "Yep."

"...Your first class is Science, right?"

   "Yeah."

"Can I maybe...walk you to your class?"

   "If you want to."

   "I do."

   "Then you can."

At the door to science, it was quiet so I decided to speak.

"Well, I'll see you in English..."

  "Yeah," Gaara seemed off today.

  "So-"

"Before you go, can I get a hug?"

"Yeah," somethings wrong. Gaara seems worried.

I hugged him and he returned it.

"[Y/N], you do know that if anything happens, you can come to me, right?"

  "Yeah...Is there something wrong Gaara?"

"I just don't want you to get hurt because of me..."

"I wont get hurt, Gaara. We have two classes together, three including lunch. I'll be fine as long as you're here, there's no need to worry."

Gaara didn't respond, just hugged tighter.

"I have to go, Gaara. I'll see you next class, okay?"

  "Okay."

Seating myself in my chair, I stared ahead to the board. I was to worried of Gaara to think,  so I just mindlessly copied the notes the class was presented.

'That Matsuri girl, it's kinda clear Gaara doesn't like her...And by the way she glared at me, I don't think she likes me. But I guess I can live that.'

The bell rang indicating next class. I walked out of class quickly, not wanting to worry Gaara anymore than he already is.

Gaara was waiting outside, leaning against the wall close to the door frame. Once he caught sight of me, an expression that looked close to relief flashed across his face. He must be really worried if he can't wait in his seat. Matsuri can't do anything bad enough to worry him this much, right?

~Time Skip brought to you by a shy Hinata~

The bell signaling lunch rang. I told Hinata and Shikamaru not to wait for me. I wanted to talk to Asuma-Sensei, he's been restless for a couple of days. Probably because Kurenai-Sensei's due sometime this week.

  "Asuma-Sensei?"

"Hey [Y/N]. Shouldn't you be at lunch?," he asked, picking up papers off the desks.

"I could ask you the same thing. Don't you know it's not nice to keep a lady waiting?"

"Well, yeah, but I still have all these chalkboards to clean-"

"Don't keep Kurenai-Sensei waiting over something like chalkboards. I'll clean them."

  "I can-"

"It's been decided. I'm doing them. Now shoo."

  "[Y/N]-"

"Need I remind you Kurenai-Sensei is due any day now?"

  He still looked unsure.

"I got this Asuma-Sensei. Go enjoy your lunch with your lady."

  "...Okay."

"And tell Kurenai-Sensei I said hi."

He smiled at me before leaving the room. I sighed, turning to the chalkboard. It was covered in writing from top to bottom, stretching across the front of the classroom. Not wanting to keep everyone at lunch waiting, I picked up the eraser.

'Glad I took off my jacket,' I thought, looking at my chalk covered shirt and hands. I was considering going to the bathroom to clean myself when the door opened.

A brown haired girl stood there, black eyes darting across the room until they landed on me. It was Matsuri. The girl Gaara was worried I'd run into. If he's that worried then I should watch out.

"If you're here to talk to Asuma-Sensei, hes at lunch," I said, giving her my full attention.

She gave me a closed-eye smile, "I'm actually here to talk to you, [Y/N]," her voice was sickly sweet.

  "What about?"

"Oh, just girl stuff," she said, closing the door behind her.
