Reader-chan POV

Gym. The most wonderful class of the day. I just enjoy soaking myself in sweat on a five-mile track in the blazing sun.

*Please don't take these words seriously, I'm speaking in sarcasm*

I'm currently running the track, trying not to drag my feet. The only ones who seem to be enjoying themselves in Lee and Gai-Sensei. More than happy, enthusiastic, just bursting with joy.

"Okay, now that your running is out of the way, let's head into the building and play basketball," Gai-Sensei chimmed.

I trudged inside, feeling the cool air hit my face.

"Okay! Boys vs Girls basketball will start in five minutes, so hydrate and stretch," Gai-Sensei bellowed.

"No! It should be three minutes! Our bodies will lose their energies if we wait that long!" Lee suggested.

"You're right Lee! Such a smart student of mine!"

  'Uggh! This guy!'

Once the ball was in the air, Tenten successfully smacked it away and dribbled it down the court. She then passed it to Sakura, but got stolen from Kiba. Kiba passed it to Sasuke, who passed it to Naruto. I reached for the ball but Naruto dribbled it around me, passing it to Lee. Temari somehow managed to get it from Lee, passing it to Hinata. She dribbled for a while before it got stolen by Sasuke. I then stole it from Sasuke and ran for the net. I jumped, ball just above the rim, when Gaara also jumped and blocked the ball. It surprised me, causing my fingers to slip off the rim, therefore landing on my back.

My eyes were closed, but snapped open when I felt hot air hit my face. Gaara was hovering over me, palms and knees on either side of me. A bright blush covered both our faces.

Cat calls were heard, causing our blushes to deepen.

"Sorry," Gaara whispered before standing up and offering his hand.

I took it without hesitation, but as soon as he started to pull a searing pain shot through my wrist. I hissed in pain and Gaara stopped, concern washing over his face.

"Are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

"I'm okay. It's just, the wrist you're holding, kinda, burns," I spoke, which only seemed to make him worry more.

Temari jogged to us, her face as worried as Gaara's.

  "Are you okay [Y/N]?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. My wrist just hurts."

"Is something wrong over here?" Gai-Sensei asked, concern laced in his voice.

"[Y/N] hurt her wrist," Temari replied persistently.

"Its okay guys. I'm fine, really."

"No, your not. I can't let one of my students take an injury and not properly heal it," Gai-Sensei chanted, dramatically pressing his fingers to his forehead.

"[Y/N], you are going to the nurse. Gaara, you are going with her. This is obviously your fault," Temari lashed.

I turned on Gaara, wide-eyed, "Its not your fault Gaara, it's mi-"

  "Its okay, [Y/N]," Gaara interrupted.

  "No its not-"

"You two better get to the nurses office so you're not late for next class," Gai-Sensei interrupted this time.

"Come on, [Y/N]", Gaara spoke, hair covering his eyes.

I frowned. I don't want people worrying about me. Gaara already thinks it's his fault.

I followed Gaara out of the Gym before I spoke, "Gaara. Its not your fault, I promise."

Gaara didn't respond, head still down. I grabbed his wrist with my good hand. He stopped but didn't look at me.

I walked in front of him and cupped his face with both hands. His eyes held fault and shame.

"Gaara, its not your fault. And its just my wrist, not an arm or a leg."

"I know," was all he said.

"If you knew, you wouldn't look so sad."

He didn't say anything, just averted his eyes to the hallway's tiled floor.

Without thinking twice, I hugged him. I felt him tense but then relax as he returned the embrace.

"Gaara, I'm fine. It's not your fault."

  "Its not your fault either."

"Then its no one's fault. I want to be your friend, Gaara. I don't want you to worry, not over something like this," I whispered as I rested my forehead on his chest.

"Okay," Gaara spoke, his chin on the top of my head.

"Hmm. Good, now lets hurry and get to the nurses office," I said, pulling away from the embrace.

~~Time Skippty Skip~~

At the nurses office, I sat in one of the hard, plastic chairs.

"Well, ms. [L/N], it seems you have sprained your [non-dominant hand] wrist," Shizune informed.

She pulled out wrap and tape, wrapping around my wrist until it felt stiff, "I should heal in a week or two if you don't mess with it."

  "Okay, thanks."

"No problem. Feel free to come back if there's something wrong with the wrapping."

"Okay. Thanks again," I said, leaving with Gaara in tow.

We headed back to the Gym to change out of our Gym clothes. When I was finished Gaara was waiting for me.

"Whats your next class, [Y/N]?", Gaara spoke once I was by his side.

  "Art with Kurenai-Sensei."

  "Hm."

"You don't have to walk me to class."

"I don't have to, I want to. We're friends now. I want to do this for you," Gaara smiled, making my heart skip a beat.

I smiled back, glad to finally be his friend.

A/N: I decided to make up for the boring chapters with this. Took me forever to lay out but I got it.
