Chapter 5
Topanga and Cory sat in Topanga's bakery, waiting for Katy to show up. Katy had quit a while back because she got a way better job then at the bakery.
"Katy, we feel that Maya is not safe at her home. Maya is afraid to even mention it." Cory told her and Katy nodded.
"I know." she sighed.
"We want her to stay with us. It'll be more safe for her." Topanga said.
"If Maya agrees, then yes she may." Katy agreed.
Katy did not want to give her daughter up. Yes, she may not have been there for her when she really needed it, but still. She is her mother, Katy made a mistake. One that can't easily be forgiven.
Maya just needs sometime away from her. And Katy understood.
-
"Maya if you don't do the homework, you're not going to pass." Riley sighed as her best friend drew on the sides of the paper.
"Eh." Maya shrugged.
"Maya," Riley started but they were interrupted by Lucas and Farkle entering through the window.
"Howdy." Maya greeted. Lucas smiled and shook his head.
"You're never going to let that go." he guessed and Maya nodded.
Lucas felt butterflies in his stomach. Maybe he was wrong, maybe he instead has feelings for Maya, not Riley. He shouldn't stress, he's only 15. But he is stressing, he doesn't know his own feelings. Besides, Riley has changed her mind. She use to like Farkle, then Lucas, but now Charlie.
She isn't sure either.
This whole thing is confusing to them all.
Maya doesn't know either. But she also doesn't care. Boyfriends? Last thing she is stressed about.
"So, what do you think your mom is going to say?" Riley asked Maya.
"She'll say yes." Maya said like it was obvious.
"How can you be so certain?" Farkle asked.
"Because my mom's not there for me. She wasn't when I was younger, not for my birthdays, or when I...when I really needed her. We both need a break, this is best. She's going to say yes." Maya explained and started on her homework, for once.
"Maya," Lucas started.
"Please, let's drop it!" Maya begged. They all sighed and agreed.
"Maya, your mom agreed to let you stay here." Topanga told her as her and Cory came into the room.
"Thank you." Maya smiled and they nodded. They left soon after and Maya looked at her friends.
"Well, you're right." Lucas sighed and Maya nodded.
"I know, I'm use to my mom not being there for me." Maya admitted and they all sent her sad smiles.
"Maya we're sorry." Riley apologized and Maya shrugged.
"It's fine." Maya sighed and her phone buzzed.
Unknown:
Watch your back. It's not the end.
Maya's heart stopped.
He's back.
"Maya?" Lucas questioned. Maya turned off her phone quickly and faced Lucas.
"Yes Ranger Rick?" she asked.
"You looked scared..." Farkle trailed off.
"I'm fine. I always am." Maya told them.
"Maya, please tell us." Riley begged.
"Guys it was nothing, ok?" she told them and they sighed.
All Riley knew is, she will find out who texted Maya.
A/N: What's next for Maya?
Will Lucas make his move?
Will Riley found out?
Can Farkle hold the group together?
Also, what did you guys think about Girl Meets Beliefs?
Honestly, one of my favorite episodes. I loved it so so much and it was so mature! I love how Disney is making Girl Meets World more mature.
