"Grace wake up!" Zoe says, shaking me awake. "What?"
"We have to go to the airport, get dressed!" I rub my eyes then stop. "The airport?" I ask "Is Joe coming for a visit? Why wouldn't he just drive?" She chuckles and shakes her head. "It's a surprise, now c'mon c'mon. Alfie has tea and toast for the drive."
I pull my covers off and Zoe leaves my room. I don't think I'll have time for a shower so I just pull out a cream turtleneck jumper, my army coat, and some jeans. I run downstairs, pull on my boots, hat, and gloves and wait for Zoe and Alfie. "Mum?" I call shyly. "Zoe?"
She comes round' the corner with a travel mug that smells of tea and hands it tea me. "Yes."
"I was just waiting for you." I say. I pet Nala as she puts on her booties and then we go to the car. Alfie is already there. I get in the back and the car starts. We aren't in the mini today. What is this surprise?
We pull into the airport parkade in London. It has a huge parking area. Zoe parks and we all get out. I really want to know what this surprise is. We head towards the arrival terminal and I am starting to get really curious. We are there for about five minutes before I see him.
Connor.
"Oh my God Zoe!" I cry, running towards Connor who rolls his suitcase behind him. We hug and it feels like we have seen each other a million times before. What can I say? Internet friends are real friends. If Joe wasn't my Godfather then maybe Connor would be. "How are you?" He asks. His voice isn't different, but it's real. "I'm good. Its awesome to see you!"
We walk to customs and he goes up and does all the passport stuff then we go get his larger suitcase with all of his clothes.
"So how is everyone?" Zoe asks. "Well I haven't seen Tyler recently but we chat, he's good. I think everyone is pretty good."
"Cool. Still no boyfriend?" He laughs. "No. Zoe you have been on me with that since I told you."
"I was on you about having a girlfriend before you told me." She laughs. Honestly, one hour in the car to drive back to Brighton is just surreal.
Connor ends up having to crash on the couch, but he doesn't mind. It's awesome to finally meet someone you know so well through a screen in real life.
Its going to be a real Frantastic visit.
