Going To Hell

"STOP HURTING MY FAMILY. THEY DID NOTHING TO YOU. YOU ARE A CRUEL MONSTER, YOU-YOU-YOU!"

"Stop whining, pesky teen. Aren't you suppose to be sleeping with boys and talking about makeup amongst your girls?"

"Listen you pedophile! Leave my family alone, or else... or else."

"Or else what? Are you going to contact your imaginary boyfriend to kill me? With a body like that I bet you don't even have one?"

"No, something worse than that."

A celestial light came shooting from my hands. The heat and vibration made my fragile veins have the urge to send out more of this fierce fire. He had hurt my family enough, and that had damaged me, both physically and emotionally. He had killed my golden retriever, Liam, who was trying to protect my twelve-year brother, who had died, too. He had hurt my mother in such a way, that she acts crazy. She was not mentally stable and kept on repeating the same words to me. "You are special."

Suddenly, something jumped on to my chest. How was that possible when I am clearly standing? I looked down onto my chest, and did not find anything there. Then, I felt something wet on my face. Again, nothing was there. Then bright lights filled my vision. Fragments of voices reached my ears, and though faint, I could still hear them.

"Go on without me!"

"Not her! Take me, but leave her alone!"

"What are you going to do? Your puny explosions don't do anything to me."

"It's up to you now Luna! Don't let him es-!"

Then everything went dark.

I opened my eyes, gasping and breathing hard, finding out that my dog was on me, my bed was burnt where my hands were, and realizing everything that had happened so far was a dream. Ever since I had woken up from a coma, I dreamed the same night every night. It became more vivid as the days went on, and something told me that this wasn't something my mind kept conjuring up. It seemed more real and much too solid. It seemed too much like a memory.

I checked my alarm clock, and realized how early I had woken up. I pulled on my bathrobe and slippers and went outside to sit on the front porch. It was a bright, cloudless day, with a shining sun. It seemed like the type of days one could read about in a perfect fairy tale.

Suddenly, Liam started whining. I figured he was hungry, considering I had forgotten to feed him last night while finishing up my chemistry homework. Getting up, I opened the notch to the front door and walked back into my house, my dog following me into the cozy place.

Walking into the kitchen, I opened up the cabinet door that contained the dog food. Pouring some into Liam's bowl, I closed the bag and put it back into the cabinet. I closed the cabinet door, and turned towards the kitchen clock.

5:50 is what it read. Still a good four hours 'till the bus that would take me to Camp Venom came. A martial arts camp that would teach me self-defense such as sparring, Ju Jitsu and Choi Kwang Do (sounds like a rip-off of Tae Kwon Do, doesn't it?). Just another one of the stupid things that my step-mother had signed me up for in order to "make new friends."

She was a good woman, but she didn't know the first thing when it came to parenting. My birth mother had died in a fatal car crash. The car crash that had put me into a six month coma and taken the lives of both my parents, as well as my twelve-year old brother.

I walked over to the dining table that resided in one corner of the chair and pulled back a chair. Sitting on it, I put my head in my hands, and let the tears flow. I was only fifteen for the sake of god, yet I had to go through so much. Hearing footsteps, I looked up towards the kitchen entrance.

Through blurry eyes, I saw my mother standing at the doorway. Wiping away the tears, I stood up.

"What's wrong, honey? Are you nervous about going to camp?", she asked calmly.

"No, i-it's fine. I am just a little, you know...", I drifted off.

"Darling, listen, when I first went to camp, I showed the boys-", my mom said.

"It's not the camp, mom! It's the memories of what happened. They're always there. I can see them. And I'm forced to relive them. Everytime I go to sleep," I whispered, gasping.

"Luna, you have to control yourself on these dreams. You have to try to think as of those memories as crazy people in chicken costumes, acting like 5-year old children", my mom said.

"But, it's not easy, mom! The taunting nightmares keep on getting clearer and clearer every night. It's like, like they are chasing after me, constantly.", I replied.

"What is this nonsense? Snap out of it. You're going to go to camp today. You're going to make friends. You're going to have fun," she said to me, a bit too forcefully.

I wiped my tears and sniffed. "You know what mom? I might make friends at camp. I might have fun. And those dreams, they might disappear," I said, attempting to put on a show for my mother.

"That sounds much better! Now, get ready. It's 6:15 and you still haven't packed or gotten dressed yet", my mom chuckled.

I didn't know what I was going to expect, but all I want is the camp that I am going to be a success.

I went to my room, and started packing all my necessities needed for Camp Venom. I pulled on some faded out shorts and an orange t-shirt and tied my blond hair into a ponytail. I threw it a couple of other shorts and shirts into my luggage, and tucked my phone and wallet into my pocket. Grabbing the notebook off my desk, I quickly put it into my backpack, then I grabbed my pencil case and threw it in there too. I took my bag and luggage down stairs, finding my brother holding the meal that my mom made for me.

"Thanks, Rupert", I said, as he gave me my meal.

"No problem.", he replied.

" But Luna...", he said

He waved his hand as if he was about to tell me a secret. I came closer to him and asked what was wrong.

"Are you going to be okay? If not, and you hurt yourself, I put some of my dinosaur bandages in your bookbag." he said.

"Awww. That is very sweet of you Rupert." I said. I reached my back pocket for my wallet and gave him a ten-dollar bill.

"Here. I want you to buy ice cream and candy with this, okay? And you have to be safe too." I said.

"Thank you Luna! You are an awesome big sister," he exclaimed, running away with the money. That little kid lightened up my mood so much, I forgot about the nightmares for now.

My mom stood near the front door. As she saw me coming, she gave me an air kiss and told me, "You got this, because you are Luna. Have fun, honey!"

With that, I left the house and saw the bus to Camp Venom coming to pick me up.

As the yellow school bus turned the corner, I looked back once more at my house. The no-need-to-socialize feeling when I was in my room, alone. But I knew my step-mother really wanted this, and this was one way I could pay her back for taking care of me.

As the bus pulled to a stop in front of me, I wished I had a hoodie on so I could have covered my face. But when the bus doors opened, I walked into the bus without hesitating. Taking the first empty seat in the front, with very little people around me, I pulled out a book from my bag. Just then, I felt something hit the back of my head.

Looking towards the back, I saw some rowdy boys from the neighborhood with crumpled paper balls in their hands. I sighed.

This was going to be a long trip.
