Chapter Five

"Draco!" Luna screamed.

Draco stopped. He saw Luna's terrified face, so he stopped, and backed off. Rolf stood abruptly and adjusted his shoulders as if he was ready for another fight.

"Listen, you low class, brainless git... Don't you ever hurt Luna again, cuz if you do," Draco stopped for a moment to smirked, "I'm telling you, My father will hear about this." He whispered drop dead seriously.

Rolf couldn't move. What could Malfoy's dad do to him? Right?

"Come on Luna, let's go back." Draco said. But before Luna and Draco could move a single inch. A camera clicked, and a person jumped out of the bushes, and yelled, "Daily Prophet!" And disappeared. He apparated.

Draco shook his head furiously, and grabbed Luna's hand out of the crowd and Rolf. They ran towards McDonald's, hand in hand. Draco furious like his name. (Draco means dragon in Latin, for you to know. : )) but Luna stirred them at the back of the building. In an alley of back walls of buildings.

"That filthy little twitch!" Draco snarled.

"You didn't need to do that!" Luna said furiously.

"Didn't need to do that?!" Draco repeated, "Are you nuts?! He's a brainless little git that doesn't know what's right and what's wrong, and you're telling me I should've not do that?-- He was hurting you! can't you see? He's hurting you!" Draco said.

"But-" Luna started but was cut off.

"I saw you beaten Luna, I saw you burden, I saw you cry, I heard your sobs, your screams, and your voice of fear ... And I never had the courage to rescue you from my house. I was a coward and until now I still live with the guilt that I never help the people bring slayed and tortured under my roof. And I don't want that to happen again Luna... Especially when it's you." Draco said,

Luna fell silent for a moment, and she blinked a couple of times. Could it be that Draco was starting to feel something for her?

Her heart pounding and her mind raising, Luna couldn't find the words right.

"Let's go back." Luna whispered, moving away.

Draco could not understand. Why was Luna acting like she was hiding something? He wanted to comfort her, always, he had wished to be her crying shoulder, but, unfortunately, that wasn't the plot.

Hermione came running towards Luna and Draco; followed by Ginny. They both hugged Luna.

"I'm so sorry, Luna." Hermione began.

"We didn't know ..." Ginny said.

Luna smiled. "Thank you." She said.

Draco saw Luna was just hiding her feelings by her smile, when all of her emotions were seen in her eyes.

"Luna ..." Draco began, "I suppose you'd like to talk about it?" He asked, sounding the most polite way he could ever say.

Luna turned to him, "I think, I think I'm going home." She said.

She faced Ginny, Harry, Hermione and Ron. "Thank you guys, I appreciate it, really, but I think now, I should go home." Luna said.

Harry nodded. "Okay Luna." He said.

"Are you sure?" Ginny said, hesitantly. "I mean we can go shopping, and have some fun after that incident." She said.

Hermione nodded, "Ginny's right." She said.

Luna smiled. "Thanks guys, but maybe next time." She said.

Ron put his arm on Hermione's shoulder, "Let Luna rest... Give her some time." He said.

Hermione looked hesitant at first but then gave in. "Alright ... Just take care of yourself, okay?" She said towards Luna.

"I'll be fine." Luna said encouraging.

"You should be with her, Draco." Harry said, "Walk her home." He said.

Draco felt hollow at what Harry said. At last, Luna and Draco would spend some time together, well, by walking and talking of course, not that ... You know what I mean. Draco shook his head, where was this thoughts coming from? Draco groaned inside, How could Loony drive The Prince so mad?
He said to himself.

"Is that alright, Draco?" Ginny spoke. Bringing Draco back to the real world.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, no problem." Draco said.

"You should be apparating by now." Hermione said.

Luna nodded, and hugged Hermione, Ginny, Harry and Ron, and said goodbyes, then went to Draco, and took his hand, sending chills down his spine.

"Good bye." Luna said, and then she and Draco apparated to Diagon Alley.

"Thank you, Draco ." Luna said.

Draco turned to her, "For what?" He asked.

"For rescuing me. You're my friend." Luna said.

Draco smiled. At least I'm already her friend. He thought.
"Can I go beyond as a friend?" He grinned.

Luna shot her head to look at him, eyes wide, and cheeks red, she smiled. "We don't know, maybe ... I mean, why not?" She said, and smiled warmly.

Draco was overjoyed. "So you're giving me a chance?" He asked excitedly.

Luna shrugged playfully, and moved even mire closer to him, "In the right time; yes." She said cutely, and giggled.

"Really? Oh, Luna, thank you!" Draco exclaimed, "You have no idea how happy I am! Thank--" and he moved in, but Luna blocked him with her hand. "Whoops, on the right time... We'll get there, when we'll get there." She giggled.

This was driving Draco crazy, yet, happy. "Okay, Miss Lovegood... You wait, yeah, we'll get there." He smirked, raising his eyebrows mischievously.

"You're much Loony than me." Luna joked.

Draco laughed, "Yeah ... I'm Loony for you." He said coolly.

Luna blushed. "Prove that when we get there." She said.

"Yeah, I'll wait, Miss Lovegood." Draco said.

Luna grinned, "Well, I guess, this is where I leave you, Mr. Malfoy, because I'll be off to home." She said playfully.

"Be careful, Miss Lovegood." Draco said.

"I will, Mr. Malfoy." Luna said, and she hugged Draco heartfelt.

Draco loose his guard, and felt calm. "Good night, Luna." He said.

Luna let go and stared into his gray eyes. "Good night, Draco." She said, and kissed him softly on the cheek. "Good bye." She said, walking away.

"Good bye." Draco said quietly, and Luna apparated home. Leaving Draco with butterflies in his stomach.
