I landed roughly on the ground. It was surprisingly painless. When I tried standing up, I noticed I was on a road. It was a dark red. It stuck to my dress and stockings, and in slow horror I realize was I was sitting in.
Cheshire's petals landed as well, swirling into his cat-like form. His laugh was horse and gut-wrenching.
Looks like you found the red road. And by looking at your face, I assume that the Hatter didn't tell you why the road was red. Notepads and pens out, Alice! It's time for a histroy lesson... Approximately 60 years, more Alices than ever had appeared. Hundreds of them, all teamed up to stop the Queen's rain of terror. The Queen's men met the Alices in the most bloody war in Wonderland's history. None of the men of the Queen's army fell. The road here was originally a lovely purple. I like purple.
I was shaking before I noticed I was still sitting on the road. I could feel the lukewarm liquid seep through my cotton dress every second. I stood up stiffly.
"Why is it still warm?" I mumbled in a soft voice, tugging at the dress from behind.
The Wonderland sky isn't nice to all, even those who will roam Wonderland even after death.
"I thought that once you died in Wonderland, you died in real life."
You also are trapped. Once you enter Wonderland, you never leave.
"What if you beat the Queen?"
Cheshire laughed for a long time before answering me.
Beat the Queen? Did that fall make you hit your head a bit to hard? Well, I guess you are in Wonderland, so you'd be insane anyways. The Queen is immortal.
"Just because she's immortal, doesn't mean she can die,"
You are a smart girl. Now, if only you were the general of the Alices 60 years ago, not that brute "Jeffery." They might have stood a chance. Little did they know that as long as the Queen is alive, all her subjects will live.
"Are you helping me on purpose?"
You are the only one who asked.
"Huh. Which way now, Cheshire?"
Cheshire took off in the road, skidding through the red. I followed him, taking careful steps that sickened me every second. My black, knee-high boots were thoroughly soaked, splattered in what I was walking in.
Cheshire glanced back at me, a smirk replacing his normal grin.
Looks like someone is going to be sick! Please, hold in your lunch. You don't want to disrespect those who fell.
My face turned a disturbing green.
"Yea, yea. Anyways Cheshire," I said, trying to get my mind of of the road. "If the Alices can't leave, but they all died, then where are they?"
They were forced to join the Queen's army. Every single Alice that every wandered into Wonderland, excepts the first Alice of course, joined the Queen's army.
"The first Alice didn't have to join?"
Yes, because she killed herself in Wonderland. You can't join the army if you aren't killed by the queen or her subjects.
"How... How did she die then?"
She killed herself. Didn't you hear me?
"Yes, but how did she kill herself?"
Why didn't you specify?
