Chapter 8 ~ Cat

After Beck left, she tried to sleep but the stress stopped her. She just wanted to close her eyes and sleep through the entire week. Before she knew it it was 6:00 and the nurse was getting her ready to go home.

"Are you sure you're feeling well enough to go home Caterina?" her nurse asked

"Yes" she replied, hesitantly.

"Alright" she smilled, placing her hand on Cat's shoulder, "Your uncle is waiting in the lobby for you whenever you're ready!" and with that she left Cat alone in the hospital room.

She walked to the elevator and took it down to the main floor. When the doors opened, her heart sank. Sitting on a bench in the middle of the lobby was her worst nightmare. His long shaggy hair, and his scruffy beard showed that he hadn't bathed in days. When he saw her he grinned. His crooked yellow teeth proving a lack of a toothbrush in his life. He walked over to her with his arms wide.

"Hello my beautiful Kitty Cat!" he smilled, pulling her into a hug, "How i've missed you all these years!"

"Hello Uncle" she gagged, unable to make eye contact with him

"Lets take you home" he smiled, "So you can rest"

The ride home was long and awkward. She sat in the back seat of his rusty old car because she refused to sit beside him. Neither one of them talked, and when they pulled into her driveway she left out and ran up to her room without another word.

After she closed the door behind her, she couldn't help but cry. The tears seemed to come so easily than the last time she saw him, mostly because she knew what was coming.

The last time she saw him she was thirteen; almost four years ago. Her mother had taken her brother to a special doctor in Ohio, and had left her in the care of her uncle so she wouldn't have to be pulled out of school. That was mistake number one. She had always known that something was wrong with her uncle, she just wasn't sure what. She found out that week. He would look at her weird everytime she was in the same room as him, and it ahd begun to creep her out. So she started to stay in her room more often than she had before. She would hide from her creepy uncle, but told him she was practicing for a big audition for broadway. After four days he knew she was avoiding him, and that bothered him very much. He would start to get angry at her for the smallest of things. He would hit her, and pull her hair if she didn't finish her homework, and one time it got serious. He hit her so hard he broke her nose. Thats when he realized that he liked hurting her. He made her so afraid of him that when her mom actually came home she told her that she had fallen down a flight of stairs and broke her nose. She was too afraid to tell her the truth.

It had been almost four years since she'd seen her uncle, and this time she wouldn't let him hurt her. The minute she got into her room she pulled out her phone and called Tori, Beck and Andre.

"Do you guys wanna come over?" she asked, "I could really use some company!"

"Sure thing little red!" Andre gleamed, "I'll be right over!"

"Me too!" Tori called.

"I'll see you soon" Beck said after they hung up, "Is everything okay?"

"Yes" she replied, speaking quietly, "I'm alright"

"Well okay then" he answered, "I'll be there as soon as I can!"

Andre was the first to show up, then Beck, then Tori. Her uncle answered the door and immediately questioned what they were doing there. Seeing their cars pull onto the road, Cat ran down the stairs and pulled her friends inside before her Uncle could slam the door in their faces.
