I looked upon the tree with gleaming lights and shining ornaments that were littered all over it. I let a small smile fall upon my face as I took one last glance at the tree before turning to look at the rest of the room.
The house was full of people, talking and laughing along with the sound of glasses being clinked together in celebration. Then the room became hushed as my father pulled himself up and stood on a table. What the fuck is he doing?
"First of all I would like to thank each and everyone of you for attending this party tonight! And I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" People began to cheer and let out hoots of excitement before quieting back down again.
"Now I have a very special present to give to my son. This will not only affect his life, but the lives of everyone here." My eyes widened as the words left his lips. Was I ready yet? His eyes caught mine and he motioned me towards him. I began to make my way through the crowd and then lifted myself up onto the table.
"I, Jason Michael Shaw, now pass down my position as Alpha to you, Chase Lane Shaw." He said as pride shone in his eyes. The room erupted in cheers. I felt a smile break out across my face as I scanned the room for Terra. When I finally found her she was next to the tree with a huge smile on her face.
"My first order of business as Alpha.." I paused as my eyes scanned the room. "is for everyone to let loose and have fun!" I yelled. The noise in the room increased in volume as I got off the table and walked over to where Terra was located. When I reached her she flung her arms around my neck and embraced me.
"Congratulations Alpha." She whispered in my ear, sending shivers up my spine. "I have to tell you something." She said as she pulled away. I nodded my head and waited for her to begin. She looked at my expectant face and sighed.
"In private." She added as she looked around the room cautiously. I nodded and grabbed her hand before pulling her into a small closet.
"So?" I asked her, prompting her to say something.
"Um... I don't know how you will feel about this..." She trailed off.
"C'mon baby just tell me. It can't be that bad." I said as I raised my hand to cup her cheek. She looked up into my eyes, the worry clouded her beautiful hazel brown eyes.
"Well... I'm pregnant." She stated with a shaky voice. My eyes widened.
"How? We only did it once?" I asked her, still in a bit of shock.
"It always happens when the female is marked. If you do it while she isn't the chance is very slim but there is still one. But since you marked me beforehand, even though there was very little time between, it was still inevitable." She replied swiftly.
"You knew about this the whole time?" I asked her.
"No, I was curious about why it happened so fast so I looked it up and that's what I found on the internet." She said. Soon enough a giant grin broke out across my face.
I'm gonna be a dad." I mumbled as my grin grew and I could feel the petals of happiness in full bloom in my chest. As they opened up and bloomed in the direction of the love I would have for this small, sweet child of mine. My eyes flickered down to her stomach. "I'm gonna be a dad!" I said as I looked Terra in the eyes. A wild grin spread out across her face. I pulled her in and kissed her.
"Well lets go, you don't want to keep your pack waiting." She said as we pulled away from each other. I opened the closet door and we slowly walked out, trying not to attract too much attention.
