*Christine's POV*
The sound of chirping birds wakes me up. I open my eyes and smile, realizing that my head is on Erik's chest. I look up and see him still sleeping.Careful to not wake him, I sit up and stretch. I then look over at Erik and give him a quick kiss on the cheek. This causes him to stir and his eyes slowly open, revealing those beautiful golden eyes.
"Good morning," he says with a smile.
"Good morning," I say with a matching smile.
"Are you ready to perform today," he asks as he sits up.
"I am," I say. "I just hope I don't cry in front of everyone."
Erik moves so he's sitting next to me and then he puts an arm around my shoulder, pulling me close to him. "You're going to do great," he says.
I smile and close my eyes enjoying this moment. "I never want this moment to end," I say, my eyes still closed.
I feel Erik kiss the top of my head. "I don't either," I hear him say. "But unfortunately it has to."
I feel Erik's arm hesitate slightly before he removes it from around my shoulders. I sigh a little and stand up. I walk over to the door, but before I open it, I feel Erik take my hand.
Smiling, I give his hand a little squeeze before walking out to the main living room. I know that once we get to the living room, Erik will have to leave, which makes me sad. Maybe after the performance today, I can ask the king if I can not marry him, just to let me live in peace or something along those lines.
We eventually make it to the living room. Erik turns and looks at me, taking my other hand. "I'll be there in the crowd for your performance," he says. "Don't worry; you're going to do great."
I smile and look up at him. "I don't want you to leave though," I say.
Erik smiles. "Don't worry," he says. "I'll see you when you get back tonight."
I nod. "Okay," I say. I then hear footsteps and know the guards are coming. "You should go now. I'll see you later tonight."
Erik starts to walk away, but I stop him. "Erik, wait," I say. He stops and turns around. I run up to him and give him a big kiss on the lips. I feel Erik's lips curl up into a smile as he kisses me back. A moment later, we both pull away. "I love you," I hear him whisper, causing my heart to soar.
"I love you too," I whisper back. Suddenly, I hear the key being put in the lock. "I'll see you later," I say back. Erik smiles and places a quick kiss on my cheek before heading to the basement door. I watch him go as the front door opens. The minute Erik is out of sight, I head back to the living room, to see the two guards waiting.
"Are you ready to go," a guard asks, rudely.
"I don't have much of a choice anyway," I think. "Yes I am," I say instead.
"This way then," the same guard says. I walk up and they lead me through the woods for the second time back to the kingdom for my second performance.
*Time Skip*
I stand in front of the full length mirror and look at myself. The dress I'm wearing is black with a jeweled bodice, probably for the fact that this song is for my father's funeral of some sort since I know they won't have his body here while I perform. I take deep breaths as I look at my reflection; for the past hour, while I was getting ready, I have been telling myself to not cry, knowing that I wouldn't be able to finish the song if I did.
The same maid from yesterday comes in and smiles. "Are you ready, ma'am," she asks.
"I am," I say. The maid then leads me to the stage again. I'm not as nervous this time, so I just walk on to stage.
Once on stage, I can't help but gasp a little. The audience is at least twice the size it was yesterday. I quickly shake the fear away as I scan the crowd for Erik. My eyes land right next to the king's throne and, just like yesterday, there he was, with his hood covering his face. I meet his gaze and smile, feeling my cheeks getting warm. Just then, I see King Raoul walk to his throne and sit down, signaling for the performance to start.
I steal one more quick glance at Erik before the music starts. The minute I start to sing, memories of father flood into my mind. I feel tears beginning to form, but ,instead, I turn the tears I was going to shed into more passion to put into the song as I sing.
As I reach the final notes of the song, I put all my soul and passion into the song, surprising myself how good the final note sounded. The crowd erupts in applause as a I stand there. All the tears I once wanted to shed were put into that one song and now I feel amazing, even though I still miss my father.
My eyes meet Erik's and his eyes are full of pride and love. I return the gaze and resist the urge to jump off the stage and run over to him. Unlike yesterday, however, the king doesn't come on stage. He just dismisses the audience and I instantly suspect something.
I walk off the stage and notice King Raoul talking to the guards before pointing to me. I stand still as the guards walk over to me. "The king would like to speak to you in private," one says. I nod and they lead me to a carriage. One opens the door for me and I climb in. Just before the door closes, however, I see Erik. My eyes lock with his as the door slams shut, breaking the eye contact.
