Jay POV
I saw that Jade girl before registration. She was sprinting down our neighborhood and started doing a bunch of other exercises. Not even tired. I could do that but I would definitely be dropping dead afterward. How she did that I don't know but I felt something up. She suddenly moved into the neighborhood without any parents and is living all alone in the house two down the street.
Yesterday my parents gave me special permission to go out. I started walking and I noticed the other house no longer had the For Sale sign. I looked at the girl who had bought the house. She was obviously my age and she was really pretty, with blue eyes and long wavy brown hair. Her name was Alira.
Like Jade, she had moved without parents or siblings or anyone. She saw me, smiled and walked up to me. We talked for awhile and I was right she was my age and was in the same classes I was in, and somehow I felt close to her, even though I just met her. She told me that her family died and she didn't have any relatives, since she was 16 and could live on her own she got to.
I wish that happened to me. We went into her new house and started talking about school and life.
About an hour later I got a text from my mom.
Mom: Get you lazy butt over here and clean our bathroom. I spilled some nail polish on the rug.
Me: Coming
" I have to leave now, " I tell her. I get up and she walks me to the door. " Are you ok?" she asks. She knows something is up. My face must give something away. " Yeah I'm fine, not looking forward to going home. " I sigh. " Why you can stay if you like I don't mind." " No I have to go home and help my mom."
I said help but actually I have to scrub nail polish off a rug myself, and I mostly will get beat with a belt if I can't get it out. So I better get going.
" They don't treat you properly, do they? " she asked. I sigh and show her my back, covered with scars from forever. She audibly gasps. " Yeah and if I don't go now that I then I will get in trouble so see you later." Before I got out, she pulls me into a hug and I felt like I found a friend.
On the way from Alira's house I wondered what made me tell her everything, and I had just met her.
I got into my house and went into my parents bathroom. I was hoping that maybe it would be a light color, but NOOO. It had to be dark red nail polish on a white rug. This is going to take forever.
After three hours I had managed to make the stain pink. My mom walked in and saw the stain. " You are so useless, " she growls at me. " I can't believe you can't even get rid of a little stain" According to my mom almost half of the rug in red nail polish is a little stain. Her face is red and I can see the steam coming from her ears. She grabs a belt and starts hitting me, metal end. It her and I could feel my skin ripping and blood coming out. " You piece of worthless trash. " she yells, drops the belt and I am burning from the whips.
Alira POV
From my research I knew he came from a broken home. But the way he acted leaving my house made me realize that he was going through hell. Which made me wonder if that is why he got so close to their secret. Because he goes through similar experiences. He doesn't deserve to go through it.
I looked out my window and saw his house. Their was a light on at a window. I stayed there watching it, waiting for it to go out. Hour.....2 Hours.....3 Hours. Finally at 12:30 it goes out. I could see with my powers, that Jay wasn't "helping" his mom. He was a slave at home.
