Chapter 4

“Hey” I said as I walked up to Addison and Taylor.

“You okay” I nodded and looked behind me back at Sean and smiled. He was only proving it to me that was all. I couldn’t hate him for that and trust me when I say this there will never be something between us and I mean never. That kiss was a wakeup call and no I don’t like him that way, not even close. What I felt from him wasn’t anything more than him being my brother; it was showing me that for now on everything will be unexpected. That kiss happened and long forgotten.

“So where are we going?” I asked looking back at my two best friends. They giggled and Taylor playfully shoved my shoulder.

“Okay okay, sorry I asked” I smiled, but it went into an immediate frown. No one was going to tell me and my friends included who I thought told me everything until earlier today. I placed both arms on the rail and leaning myself onto it, I closed my eyes to seeing nothing, but when I opened moments later I wasn’t expecting to see anything but darkness.

“Were here” I jumped at his voice and calmed down a little when I turned to face him.

“And where is here exactly” I asked looking behind me where I saw little flickers of light off in the distance. I couldn’t tell but I knew this was in no way on a map or so I think.

“Where our journey begins” I had to rethink on what he just said.

“Wait ours” I said gesturing him and I.

“You think we would just sit around and let you two have the journey of a life time” Addison placed her hands on Sean’s shoulders and gave a huge smile.

“She’s right we can’t let that happen” I felt Taylors arms wrap around me, giving me a tight hug. They both stepped aside and went at the railing. I leaned into the railing once more and took in a deep breath feeling relieved I wasn’t doing this on my own and I still don’t know what I was going to do or how I was going to do it.

“How long” I looked at Taylor and she smiled at my question.

“This will be so much fun” I looked at her questionably at what she just said.

“I totally agree” I looked at them both wanting an answer.

“I don’t understand what…” I didn’t get the chance to finish; a hand was placed around my waist. I was being lifted off the ground; I let out a scream demanding whoever this was to let me down. I looked where Addison and Taylor went, but there was no sign of them. I only got a single glance to find Sean on the ground unconscious, before I was thrown over the rail into the ocean waters.

Crashing into the below freezing water made it even harder to reach the surface. I couldn’t tell which way was up or even down. Starting to swim I saw little light coming from the opposite direction I was swimming and decided to swim that way. I was praying repeatedly through my head to get out alive. I broke the surface taking in a deep breath filling my lungs with oxygen. My lungs were burning I wasn’t so sure how long I could have been under the water, I will never know. At this moment the only thing important was to swim toward where we were going in the first place.

I was thankful to not get tired fast but a little over half way I was wiped out and all I could do was lie on my back and float. There was nothing I could do, not a single yell for help. The boat was long gone and no help was coming anytime soon.

I thought about lying on the island of the unknown, Water beneath my finger tips was slowly becoming sandy and my back no longer floating, but on a surface. My eyes shot open seeing the sky turning into day, no longer in the dark. My arms were stretched out as far as they could go and all I felt was wet sand. Rolling over, I couldn’t believe it. I stood without thinking and placed my hand on my forehead from the side effects of hitting your head and almost drowning happening all in one day.

I smiled when my vision came back and my head was feeling not as light headed. Taking in a deep breath, I had a moment of peace, not remembering the reason why I was here in the first place. Wait I don’t know why I am here, great.

“Hanna!” I jumped at my name, I was facing the ocean when I heard it and looked to my left seeing Taylor running my direction. But where is Addison and Sean?

“I thought you didn’t make it” She was breathing heavily when she finally reached me.

“Aren’t vampires fast runners?” Of course that would be my first question to ask.

“Haha very funny, but Hanna I’m being serious how did you get here?” I looked into her eyes finally seeing what she really is. Not seeing any dark or the slightest bit of demon, but good and no evil what so ever. I smiled when I remembered her question and I only had one thing to say.

“That’s the benefits of being a witch” She smiled and jumped while clapping her hands in excitement.

“I knew you could do it” I paused remembering only one of my best friends was here.

“Where is Sean…Addison?” I paused between their names not wanting it to be true of what I think happened. Taylor looked down at her feet for a moment and then looked back at me with worry and defeat in her eyes.

“I don’t know actually” Addison and Taylor are sisters and they are part of my family, not biological but god I love them just as if they were my own sisters.

“What do we do now?” I stuttered through the words but said it fast to get it over with. I came here thinking I had two other people to fight by my side, but ended up with only one. I wrapped my arms around her taking in each other’s comfort.

“Hanna that’s the thing… we were never told on what to do” I stepped back seeing if she was kidding.

“All but Sean” She whispered and I closed my eyes taking in everything.

“And he couldn’t have just told me” I said through my teeth. I couldn’t help but be mad at this moment, he said I was going to find out the moment I got here or whenever we got there I don’t remember. But the point is he had to wait, my brother had to go by the rules.
