Chapter 14
As I licked my lips, Demetri flashed a bright smile. He slowly caressed my face in his hands and took in a small breath of pleasure. Standing on my tip-toes I pecked his soft lips once more.
“I have missed you so, Katreena” I let out a sign of relief as I stroked the side of his cheek, as he still did to me as well.
“Too long, never again” I whispered. As I wrapped my arms around Demetri I took in a deep breath taking in the familiar scent. Even after hundreds of years he still smelled the same to me. The smell of earth after he hunted, the smell of trees on him always made me smile. Taking a step back, I exposed my bare neck and placed my hand on my chest. Taking the necklace in my hands I immediately became paralyzed.
“Is something wrong?” I slowly made eye contact with Demetri and shook my head slightly, immediately releasing my hands from the necklace.
“I believe I should take a nights rest if you don’t mind?” Demetri looked skeptical, but bowed his head and placed his fist over his heart.
“As you wish” I gave him a quick half smile and walked back into my room shutting the door behind me. I kept a hold onto the door knob as I took in slow steady breaths. As I looked up I was starred at by unfamiliar people. Well except one.
“Hanna what aren’t you telling us?” I looked towards the voice and saw a petite teen with a pixie haircut; she looked confused and lost for words. I couldn’t understand why she would. I played along afraid of who they were and what they could possibly do to me any moment.
“Nothing, no secrets, promise” I faked a smiled and took a seat next to my warrior who I have not seen in more than a hundred years.
“Damian may I speak with you” He looked up from his hands and nodded instantly.
“Sean what is going…” He raised his hand silencing the other blond girl in the room.
“Addison and Taylor I will explain later” They were both confused but of course my warrior understood everything that was going on. I stood suddenly and noticed the open door in the far corner of the room. As I closed the door behind me, after Damian walked in I walked over to the sink and looked into the mirror.
“Who am I?” I asked as I stared into a reflection that wasn’t me who was staring back. I felt alone and out of place.
“Her name is Hanna Sanger” I cocked my head as I said aloud.
“My name is Hanna Sanger” As I thought how the words sounded against my tongue, the name became familiar. In a way Hanna was still part of this body.
“I wasn’t expecting to be brought back as a… witch” I spat, quite discussed being in a witches body let alone in a different body than my very own.
“Katreena” I threw my hands up in the air as he whispered my name.
“What is it Damian I know you well indeed!” He starred at me with no emotion, he stood with a slouch.
“You are NOT my warrior!” I yelled before he spoke.
“Katreena. I am your warrior. I have stayed with you all these years, yet you come now. Explain to me why now.” Taking in a quick sudden breath of air, I bit the inside of my cheek knowing the answer.
“It’s the prophecy is it not?”
“Yes Damian I am indeed the prophecy” As we stood in silence, Damian took a step towards me placing his hand around the necklace.
“You know what must be done” He was right, the time was near. I was going to need to take action if I liked it or not.
“You will be by my side, yes?” I looked him in the eye looking for the man I once knew hundreds of years ago. He was gone.
“I made that oath a long time ago and I made one to Hanna. If that is what I have to do to keep her safe, yes I am by your side” Seeing humanity in him made me sick, he had feelings for the witch. I don’t understand why, but indeed I will find out. But in the meantime I simply smiled.
“Good, because you know very well once you break an oath” Smiling ear to ear I couldn’t help but notice pain and despair cross his face.
“Of course, we wouldn’t want that now would we?” His face became strong, the warrior I once knew. Feeling accomplished I said.
“No we wouldn’t and as I will need to somehow fool both sides, I will need every memory possible of Hanna’s and the covenants trust” He lowered his head.
“The blond is Addison and the other is Taylor, you are friends”
“Perfect…” I whispered.
“But they are lamia vampires” My gaze sharpened as Damian raised his head.
“So the entire prophecy is true…” My muscles began to tighten. This was not going to go well as I planned it to be. The covenant is going to be much harder to receive trust.
“Yes and it is our duty to make sure the prophecy does not happen” As I heard Damian say those words my muscles began to relax and a smile formed on my lips. A soft knock came from the bathroom door.
“Hanna…Sean. Is everything okay?” I took a step towards the door as Damian opened slowly.
“Yes we are done” I said before he could speak.
“Well then I’m in the need of a hot shower” I smiled and walked out allowing the blond girl to get cleaned up. Walking to the wardrobe I unzipped the dress and stepped out, exposing my corset.
“Hanna what are you doing?! Sean get out!” I laughed under my breath as he walked out with no presence of humanity on his face. My warrior was back, for time at least.
“Let me help you” The petite girl began to untie the corset allowing me to take an entire deep breath with no pain to my lungs or ribs. I turned around and gave her hug, thinking it was the thing to do.
“I forgive you” She teased.
“For what?” I asked.
“Running away silly” She playfully nudged my shoulder. Walking over to the bed I noticed two extra night gowns. Know this was going to be perfect, sharing an entire bed with two people I hardly even know. I crawled in the bed after getting showered and dressed after waiting for what felt like hours after the other girls.
“I’m going to enjoy this adventure aren’t you?” One of them asked.
“You don’t even know half of it” I whispered to myself.
“What was that Hanna?” I stiffened a little annoyed by the two ranting on and on.
“Yes I am going to enjoy this adventure” I said allowed enough for they could hear. Quiet took over at last allowing the silence of the room helps me sleep. As I lay on the bed in between the two annoying twins, I thought of how I was possibly going to explain Demetri I am the one he has been searching for all those years. I wasn’t going to give myself just yet, dying again was not on my to do list especially if the chosen one was supposed to kill an entire race of vampires you were made into.
