Buffy the Vampire Slayer : Season 6 : The Lost Poet

Scene 5

               Buffy throws a punch, then the demon grabs her fist and grabs her throat with his other hand and wrenches his claws to the surface of her skin. Blood trickles down her neck . As Buffy is choking she grabs a stake from her pocket and manages to stab him in the side. As Buffy fell to the ground, she grabbed Spike who was now awake, and ran. It was unusual for her to run, but she knew that he was stronger than he was just a few hours ago.

                     Spike and Buffy came through the front doors of her house. "Hey, where you guys going?" Buffy asked as she looked at all of them getting ready with weapons and all.

"Well, it's a good thing I didn't kill it. But the thing that I don't get the demon clawed me, why am I not all in the forgetfulness." She said as Willow bandaged her neck. They all look at Giles for an answer.

"Well, legend says that it only inflicts its' power on its' summoned target."

"So you're saying that someone targeted Spike?" Buffy asked

"Yes." Giles answered.

"What did I do to make someone that angry?" Spike wondered out loud.

"You may not have done anything," she stated.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, remember a couple weeks ago when I had my crazyfest with the mummy hand and all? Well, what if it's the same thing or person that did that?"

"You think they may be targeting all of us?"

"Possibly."

"Well, first, lets get this demon. But, then we need to be looking out for this thing. Whatever it is. It's bad if it is targeting all of us.

"Give it back!" Andrew yelled trying to snatch the action figure out of Jonathan's hand.

"It's mine!"

"No, it's mine, I only let you borrow it."

"No, you stole it."

             "William, why don't you get cleaned up for the night. The bathroom is upstairs. Xander will show you where everything is and how to work everything." William nodded his head and went upstairs with Xander. She watched as they went upstairs and when she saw that they were out of the room and out of hearing range, she spoke again. "Okay guys, what is it you're not telling me?"

"Tell her Giles," Willow said as Buff looked over at Giles with concern.

"Even after we do the ritual, there may be a good chance that Spike won't regain his memory."

"Why not?"

"It only works if the person wants it to. Since this thing feeds on pain..."

"The memories might be too painful." Buffy said with deep concern. Giles nodded his head. They all looked down and frowned. "Well, we have to try."

"Alright, let's get to work," Willow said.

"And you just turn the little knobby thing and the water comes out." Xander said as he rolled down his sleeves of his blue long sleeved sweater

"Thank you, Xander."

"Yeah, yeah."

"Xander, it's nothing hidden that you don't like me, so I would like to apologize for anything that 'Spike' has done to upset you."

"Wow, that's words that I never thought that I'd here from you, but I, I except William's apology." William smiled, and for one second, Xander felt really bad for him. It sucked that a man with this much decency could change so much. 'But then again, it is the demon talking most of the time,' Xander thought. But then Xander realized something. The demon did not change Spike into a human, nor did it give him a soul. Spike was still a demon. Yes, the demon took his soul, but it was time and what came after his transformation that had changed Spike.
