A/N: Dimitri POV because why not know what happens when he finds out his sister is still alive
Dimitri lounges on the throne, picking at his nails while the people of Anivard come to talk to him. His advisor, he had forgotten his name and could've cared less, kept looking over at him anxiously. Dimitri glares at him when they make eye contact then sighs and turns his head to look at the peasant below the steps to his throne. "You want compensation for what my army did to your gardens? It is stated and a well known curtesy that the people of Anivard must provide for their protectors. My army was hungry, you should've given them what they asked for." he looks up through his long hair and stops picking at his nails, sitting up. "I'll give you compensation. Ten silver crowns, nothing more and nothing less."
His advisor opens his mouth to speak but the villager is faster. "That's barely enough for bread!"
"The maybe you should have listened to my men when they asked for food and shelter!" Dimitri roars, standing up from his throne. His guards unsheath their swords. The villager gets down on his knees, begging for forgiveness. Dimitri shakes his head. "Get him out of my sight."
The guards drag him out of the throne room. Dimitri sits back down and sighs. "They never listen to me. I'm king, dammit."
"Your majesty, might I suggest you be a little kinder to them, after all your men were unexpected in town." his advisor speaks up. Dimitri waves over one of the servants holding a bowl of fruit. He takes a bunch of grapes and begins eating them. "If I show them kindness, they'll take advantage of me. Did you ever think of that?" he turns his head to look at his advisor. "Shut up and leave me. All of you." gets back up and starts pacing. Everyone leaves, as instructed, and the guards stand post outside the throne doors. Dimitri throws his crown off his head and down onto the floor, yelling out in anger. He couldn't concentrate. Something was wrong. He had been restless for the past week, this fear eating away at him. He couldn't control the country. He barely knew what he was doing. But he was not about to ask for help.
The throne room doors opened back up and Dimitri hastily grabbed his crown, putting it back on. "What?"
"Your... majesty..." a messenger wheezed out. He ran up, bowed and handed Dimitri a letter. "It is from your leading guardsman back at Ragnabrok."
Dimitri raises his eyebrows and shoos the messenger out, sitting back down on his throne and breaking the red seal.
You majesty, King among Kings, Ruler of all,
I regret to inform you your lead guardsman Robert has passed, he was killed by a savage outlaw. I have taken his position, being the next higher order.
This event caused a rebellion through the town of Ragnabrok, we've killed those who resisted us. They were trying to save your sister, who is alive and in perfect condition.
He doesn't read the rest, his eyes become blurred with anger. Ophelia is alive and well, she's supposed to be dead.
Part of him was furious but the other half of him was relieved. He wouldn't have that guilt on his shoulders. But his sister was alive and she was probably planning to commit treason and overthrow him. Dimitri walks down the steps and past the guards, crumpling the piece of paper and throwing it in the nearest fire place. "Find Demetria and bring her to my chambers." he says to his advisor.
"As you wish, your majesty."
Dimitri walks up the stairs and to his chambers. Once there he throws a chair at the mirror and hits the wall. She isn't supposed to be alive!!
There's a knock on his doors. "Come in." he says, voice dripping with hate. Demetria walks in and bows. "You called?"
"Take your dress off and get on the bed." he growls.
"Your majesty, I don't think we should do this while you're in this condition."
"Get on the fucking bed or I'll have your head!" Dimitri barks. Demetria undoes the back of her dress, hands shaking.
Dimitri turns to the broken mirror and watches her from the reflection. "My condition is nothing to worry about, I just need to think." he takes off his tunic and turns back to Demetria. My sister is alive but not for long. She will die, and I'll make sure to witness it.
