As I scrawl through the websites of Channel 4 and the BBC,
I close my eyes and say a silent prayer and plea,
If bad news sells and good news serves to inspire,
Why is it always the worst news that seems to transpire?
TV and radio seem to be dominated by doom and gloom,
For heroes, miracles and good will there isn't much room,
We don't live in a utopian world; I'm not that naïve,
But that we live in such a horrible world is impossible to believe.
I get that we need to be aware of corruption, terrorism and crime,
But does it have to be murder, austerity and war all the time?
Wouldn't it brighten up the country's day,
If on the bulletins, uplifting stories had the first and last say?
