Later Today At 10:46 AM
"Run Patrick!" Pete yelled, gun shots banged throughout the school halls, screams followed the shots. "Pete, I can't!" Patrick managed to force out, while catching his breath. "Just get in here!" Pete yelled, yanking Patrick into a small janitor closet.
Pete slammed the door shut and heard people run past. He could only hope they would be safe in here.
Earlier That Day At 9:56 AM
"Patrick," Pete whispered, Patrick turned and saw his friend leaning close to him trying to get his attention. "What?" Patrick asked annoyed, they were supposed to be reading their textbooks. This was not reading. "Can I borrow a pencil?" Pete asked, Patrick sighed, rolled his eyes, and reached into his binder.
He fished around in the big pocket until he found the bright yellow pencil he was searching for. He grinned and turned back around, now back to his original annoyed facial expression.
"Here," Patrick said, handing the pencil to Pete, then pointing to the paragraph they were supposed to read. "Now, work." Pete sighed and slumped back into his chair. Patrick turned back around and looked at his social studies book.
Pete and him had been friends since kindergarten. Pete had asked Patrick if he wanted to play Ninja Turtles with him, odviously Patrick had said yes. Pete was Rafiel and Patrick was Donatello. He would never forget that day.
Patrick stopped day dreaming a snapped back into reality, realizing he was already half finished with the page. What had he read? No he had to start over. This would be a long class hour.
Pete looked at the clock anxiously. Why was class so long?! He sighed loudly and kept reading the book.
10:24 AM
Two minutes. Pete thought, beginning to put his things away. Kids began to get ready to leave, this included him and Patrick. He pushed back a piece of his dark brown fringe that had fallen in front of his face.
Once he had packed everything up, he tapped his friend. Patrick swivled around quickly, this made his hair whip slightly toward his face. Pete laughed quietly, but began to speak.
"Patrick," He said, to his strawberry blond friend. "Is it okay if you come over to my house tonight?" He asked. Patrick thought deeply about this, then remembered he had drum lessons.
"Sorry Pete," he said, grabbing his books one by one and placing them in his bag. "But, I'm busy tonight. I have drum lessons." Pete nodded understandingly. Maybe he could ask Brendon.
The bell rang and everyone flew up from their seats and sprinted to the door, but not Patrick. He had stayed behind, probably from the fear of being pushed around by Todd and Michael.
Patrick had been bullied by them since third grade, Pete felt awful about it, but never really jumped into the flame by standing up for his friend. He felt bad about not helping, but it would make things worse if he did jump in.
Besides, no one really liked Pete except Patrick, Joe, Andy, Mikey, Gerard, and Brendon, no one really cared either. If Pete was ever mentioned in a conversation, he was just a background character. It had been like this his whole life, and he kinda liked it that way.
