In My Car

Chapter IX

I sighed heavily as the image of Lydia's tears ran through my mind. Did my dream really mean something? If it was enough to make Lydia cry it must mean something.

Then there was a dull ache that formed in the hollow of my chest. It was like something heavy was placed where my heart was and it weighed down my spirits. Not grief... But maybe heartache... No that's ridiculous!

What the heck was I talking about?! Nonsense, I was talking about nonsense. I focused my attention back to the problem at hand. Why was Lydia acting so strangely when I told her about my dream? Who was she? I was so confused about so many things, but I had so few answers.

           What was I to do?

Right now my train of thought was saying that if I stayed with Lydia my life would be in danger, but she had something I wanted: the key to more info on my parents. And the fact that she was as sexy as hell was a good reason too.

Just look at the mess I'm in thanks to Lydia. And what, it’s only been the second day I've met her? I think that's a world record. There was definitely more cons than pros in this situation.

The cons were getting arrested, not finding any info about my parents, and missing the first day of school. There really weren't any pros right now. Meeting Lydia has still undecided feelings.

There was nothing left to do now but go and meet up with Lydia. I stepped out of the car and shut the door with a soft click.

The sun was shining in the bright month of August, and the birds chirped happily despite my sullen mood. The trees swayed harmoniously as nature took its hold. The pavement was cracked and looked damaged beyond its years; it was midnight black and stretched to the entrance of the mall -more like an outlet.

It was a small place. It ran across the horizon and there was about only five or six stores open. There were plenty of windows for the customers that liked to window shop, and automatic doors that creaked every time someone came near them.

I let my gaze wander and saw that there were multiple bathroom signs pointing in the back of the stores and plenty of porta potties.

Wow, thanks so much Lydia. I'm going to have so much fun looking for which bathroom you’re in. Please note the sarcasm.

And it was just my luck.

There was conveniently a restroom in every store.

           Woo hoo.

           Yippee.

            Please note the sarcasm.
