"Eli! ELI!" The Beta of The Yellow Moon Pack and Eli's father bellowed into the woods.

His hunting party scoured the edges of the clearing that the pack resided in and were now heading into the surrounding thick forest.

Eli's father new very well of the family of bear shifters that lived very close to The Yellow Moon Pack's territory.

Bears were both respected and feared, so no one dared to set foot in their territory.

The sun had just started to rise above the treetops when they had set out on today's search for Marcus's lost son, Eli.

It was now almost evening and they still had no luck.

Marcus gave a silent signal to the hunting party and they began the return back to their dens.

"Any luck?" Marcus's mate asked when he walked through the doorway.

Marcus shook his head solemnly and plopped himself into a nearby soft armchair, letting out a sigh as he did so.

The sun began to dip below the treetops again, tinting the sky first a golden yellow, then fading slowly into a bright scarlet, and finally into a deep indigo that slowly bled into a star-splattered velvety black.

The waning gibbous moon hung bright in the sky as each of The Yellow Moon Pack's members bedded down in their respective dens for the night.

Marcus would not give up so easily on the search for his son. He set out into the darkened woods that were lit by the soft milky moonlight.

He gulped down his fear as he inched closer and closer to the bear's territory. He gazed back over his shoulder to see the last bit of candlelight go out from one of the dens in his pack.

Marcus could smell the scent of bear grow stronger with each step, but he now smelled something new, wolfish even, embedded in the rich smell of the bear shifters. It was Eli.

Marcus froze. His mind began to race as he thought of the numerous reasons why Eli could be dead.

His mind abruptly stilled when he heard his son's light breathing in between the great rumbling snores let off by the bear shifter.

Marcus anticipated the worst as he peeked his head around the den's entrance. He was not greeted by a panicked Eli huddling in one corner, but his son wrapped protectively in the arms of the sleeping shifter, also sound asleep and cuddled into her stomach.

The girl's long brown hair trailed messily out behind her onto her soft moss green pillow.

"A-ka." Eli sleep-grumbled as he turned around and buried his face under the sleeping girl's chin, gripping tightly around her shoulders as though protecting her even though she was much larger than he was. Only a tuft Eli's of silvery hair was visible as Aka wrapped her muscled arms a bit tighter around his chest and tucked her head over his.

She growled softly in her sleep but relaxed and returned to snoring loudly.

Marcus grinned to himself as he retreated back into the woods and made his way back to his den where he curled himself around his mate and nodded off into sleep.
