Letters of Desperation

Dear stranger,

I hope that you read this and find room in your heart

For a few sad words and a woman with a rocky start.

You see, I have started anew, in a city without a name

And I wish to make my mark on it so that it will never be the same.

But I have some extra baggage, a man with eyes of steel

Who wishes to make me remember how to feel.

So I'm asking you stranger, just one simple task,

I want you to take my heart and hide it in your flask.

I will not be harsh, or hard to endure,

Its just, simply, my heart can take no more.

I ran to this place wishing on a dream

And he chased me down and ripped all the seams

So I need a safe place, simply to lay and rest

So that this man, who may try his best,

To find my heart will never prevail

Because I want you to put me in the mail.

And once again send me off far and wide,

Hoping that someday that man will change his mind,

And that I will finally be able to open my soul,

To another that will not demand such a toll.
