Amelia gave (Name) his cell phone back after she was finished talking with Arthur and sat back in her seat feeling a new sense of happiness. She was finally able to talk to Arthur again, and soon Matthew and Arthur  would come to Montana to bring her back home. She couldn’t think of another way to be happier until her brothers got there. All she had to do was stay with (Name) until they got there. Everything was working out for her now.

(Name) put his phone back in his pocket and put the dirty dishes into the sink. “So what are they going to do?”

“They’re coming from New York to bring me back home. I don’t know how long it’ll take them to get here but they’re on their way..” Amelia’s voice started to crack midsentence and she started to cry a little which made (Name) worry. He sat back down next to her and hugged her comfortingly.

“Don’t cry Amelia. They’re coming right? Everything will be okay. You’ll be back home soon.” (Name) patted Amelia gently on the shoulder and smiled at her. ”Everything will be okay,” he repeated, handing her a handkerchief. Amelia wiped her face and eyes clean of her tears and gave it back to (Name).

“Thanks (Name)…” she said. “I’m just so happy I get to see my brothers after so long. It feels like it’s been years since I’ve seen them.”

“It’ll be nice for you to be home with your family after everything you’ve been through these past three months. And I’m glad the ones that did put you through are that are behind bars now.”

Amelia smiled up at him. “Yeah, thanks to you they are.”

(Name) nodded and started heading back to the living room. “You can help yourself to anything you want in the fridge.” He sat down on the sofa and turned on the television to the news channel. Amelia took a Coke from the refrigerator and gulped it down.

She was glad that she had (Name) to look after her for now. He was kind of like another big brother to her since he took her under his roof. She had no idea how she was going to repay him though. It didn’t seem like there would be anything she could do that would truly express her gratitude to him, and she didn’t really have anything she could give to him as a thank you gift. All she could really do until Arthur and Matthew came to pick her up was stay with him. Maybe she could do his housework for him until she had to leave. That would probably do. It was the least she could do for him since he saved her from a life of hell.

Maybe she could start by washing the dishes. They were piled up pretty good in the sink along with the two they had just used for lunch. She ran the water in the sink and started washing his dishes. This could be a pretty good start, and if there was something else he hadn’t done yet, she could do that for him too.

(Name) heard the water running inside the kitchen and went to go see what Amelia was doing in there. “Amelia?” He looked inside the door and saw Amelia washing his dishes. “Amelia why are you washing the dishes?” He went inside the kitchen and stood next to Amelia.

“I want to help you around the house as much as I can before I leave,” Amelia said to him, smiling softly. “It’s the least I can do for you (Name). You saved me after all.”

(Name) smiled back before reaching the turn off the water. “It’s fine Amelia. You don’t really have to do anything.”

“But it’s not fine! I want to repay you for being kind to me!” Amelia turned the water back on and continued washing dishes. “I’m just fine with doing this for you. I was forced to do this before but I’ll do it on my own will for you.”

(Name) sighed. “It’s okay. Really. You don’t have to do anything for me Amelia. It’s part of my job to save people.”

“Yeah I know that, but that still doesn’t make me any less grateful to you. Just let me do this for you. Please?”

(Name) looked at Amelia and sighed. “Fine. Just don’t do it too often, okay? There’s no need to do this all the time if this isn’t actually your house.”

Amelia smiled wider and nodded. “Okay. Thanks (Name),” she said as she continued washing the dishes for him. She was glad that she could at least do this for him.

“You can sleep in my room tonight if you want,” said (Name). “I’m sure it pretty uncomfortable for you just sleeping on the couch, so I’ll sleep there tonight.”

Amelia stopped washing the dishes for a second and shook her head before she went back to washing again. “I’m perfectly fine sleeping on the couch. You can keep your bed.”

“Go ahead and take it. I’ll be better off on the couch.” Amelia looked at him sort of like he was crazy, and (Name) thought for a few seconds before he said “the couch is way more comfortable anyway. I will be way better off.”

Amelia shrugged. “Okay if you say so.” Amelia finished washing the dishes a few minutes later and went to join him in the living room to watch television.

*~That Night~*

Amelia laid in (Name)’s bed, arms crossed and mumbling like a child who couldn’t have ice cream before they went to bed. “(Name) lied. The couch was not more comfortable.”
