Arthur had already woken up long before Matthew did, and he was reaching for the car keys in Matthew’s pocket. He was rested well enough and he was ready to get back on the road. Matthew turned over on his side, making the keys easier for Arthur to get. He reached inside his coat pocket and carefully slipped the key out of it. Careful not to wake Matthew, he sat his seat back upwards and started the car. He was already back on the road before Matthew had finally woken up.
He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat his seat back up. “Arthur what are you doing?” He noticed that Arthur had driven back onto the road after he woke up a little bit more. When had he taken the keys out of his pocket? “Why are you driving again?”
“I’ve gotten all the rest I need for now Matthew,” Arthur said. “I can be back on the road again.” Matthew sighed at him. He was still being stubborn as ever about this. At least he had finally gotten some sleep.
Arthur continued driving until his GPS system finally showed that they were in Montana. Arthur smiled and sighed with relief. They would be back with Amelia at long last pretty soon. Matthew was smiling as well at the thought of seeing his sister again. The GPS system showed that the town Amelia said she was in wasn’t too far away from where they were now, and Amelia would probably still be asleep by now.
Arthur kept on driving farther into Montana before he noticed a suspicious looking truck following them behind. He thought nothing of it ten minutes ago, but it was the same truck that had been following them since then. By the looks of it, Matthew was starting to get suspicious about the truck too. Why were they following them all the way for ten minutes? It wasn’t until a little longer that the truck was starting to get closer until they were right beside each other.
The truck driver smirked and drove his car closer to Arthur’s side, making Arthur veer over to avoid hitting him from a few inches away. “Bloody hell!” He shouted out. “What is he trying to do, run us off the road?!” By the looks of it, that was exactly what the truck driver was aiming to do. Arthur could hardly go sideways anymore, and the other driver was only getting closer and closer.
The driver of the truck finally got tired of just making Arthur move to the side, so instead he rammed his truck right into the side of Arthur’s car. Both Arthur and Matthew yelled out as Arthur tried to speed up and get away from him. “He’s a maniac!” Arthur shouted before he put his foot down on the gas. He reacted too late, because the driver had knocked into the side of Arthur’s car again and dented the whole left side of his car and made him veer completely off of the road and into a billboard sign far off the road.
Other drivers who had watched what happened to them were calling ambulances and the police while the truck driver sped away from the hit-and-run. Other drivers had pulled over to try and see if they Arthur and Matthew were alright and get them out of the wrecked car. The bystanders could only hope that they weren’t severely injured.

Amelia was already awake and watching the news channel from the television in his bedroom when (Name) had woken up. The news channel had just finished the weather report and was ready to switch to something different. “This just in,” the news reporter said. “A hit-and-run accident occurred not too long ago on the highway. Police officials are still trying to identify the victims and retrieve them from their wrecked vehicle.”
Amelia’s whole body froze up with fear after the camera was directed at the wrecked car. She would recognize that car anywhere. “That’s Arthur’s car…” she said, barely above a whisper, tears forming in her eyes. (Name) sat up from the bed and watched the news with her. They watched as the paramedics pried Arthur and Matthew out of the car and into an ambulance from a gurney. This was the worst thing that Amelia thought could ever happen. “I have to get to them (Name)!” Amelia pleaded desperately. Tears rolled down her face as she looked over to him with horror and grief in her eyes.
