The evening was quiet, though in the young boys mind, it was filled with nightmarish noises and hellish screams, his small body shivering under his bed covers. He awoke with a quiet yelp, the child clinging to his pillow and burrowing himself beneath the fabric, frightened by the imagination of his unconscious mind. He was only a child after all, one could only expect that someone so young would have been terrified by what dark monsters dwelled within the minds of children. As fictional as they were, it didn’t fail to frighten him down to his very bones, his face hidden in the fluffy pillow clutched within his arms.

The quiet of the evening was broken, the small boys nightmares putting all thoughts of peaceful sleeping out of his mind. The door knob turned quietly and slowly as Sebastian walked into the room, carrying his candelabra, and looked at the young boy. He sighed softly and set the candle light down on the night stand and sat on the edge of the bed, comforting the boy.

"The nightmare's again, little master?" He asked. It had became a nightly tradition now, with the young boy having nightmares. They always seemed to be the same as Sebastian could call. A smiling cat, a white rabbit in a waist coat, and other strange creatures, such as a smoking caterpillar. He smiled slightly as he listened to the boy's dream. It all sounded too peculiar to believe, but he listened, with a serious, attentive expression on his face.  From a child’s eyes, anything was possible, so of course it would have sounded odd to an adult. Though to the small boy who now hugged his pillow tightly, his eyes wide with slight wonder as he peered up at the other, such ideas made perfect sense to him. Just because they sounded strange, didn’t mean he was ever going to stop being afraid of them.

The small body he had was burrowed back under the covers once his childish voice had finished going on and on about his dreams, the covers stopping just bellow his eyes as he stared up at his butler, his small fingers curled tightly around the fabric.

Such nightmares had plagued him for as long as he could remember. As much as they frightened him, being the innocent little boy he was, they never ceased to amaze him as well. Talking animals and all sorts, both mystifying and oddly creepy at the same time. It was both a wondrous and unnerving thing to witness most evenings. The demon chuckled softly and sat him back up. After the boy had asked if he had gone round the bend, he pulled off his glove and felt his forehead, looking just like the family doctor when he was checking for a fever. He made the doctor's "bad news" face and said, "I'm afraid you're off your head...You're mad. Bonkers. Off your head." He smiled softly and pulled his glove back on, tucking him in again. "But I'll tell you a secret... all the best people are. Its only a dream, master, nothing can harm you there. But if you feel too frightened, you can always wake up, Like this." He suddenly pinched the young boys arm, not very hard, and smiled. "And you will wake up. Nothing to worry about. Its only a dream~" He stood up again, after making sure the boy was comfortable, then walked out of the room, closing the door gently.

The small boy giggled quietly at the pinch, and snuggled back into under the covers, letting his sapphire eyes fall closed as he yawned. The reassurance his butler gave sent him back into a dreamland, the nightmare continuing, but no longer caused the boy to stir.

Said dreams lasted for years, though gradually dimmed down, fading from the boy’s memory as he grew older. Though that would never be the end of them, no, for years pasted, and the time came for when all those nightmares were finally prepared to awaken him once more.
