After a slight bickering with Elizabeth, and being torn away from the dancers for whatever reason there had been, he found himself alone, before being approached by Timber and Canterbury, who giggled at him and whispered to each other.
“We have a secret to tell you!” One grinned to him.
“If you’re telling me it’s not much of a secret” he muttered, giving them an unimpressed look.
“Perhaps we shouldn’t~.”
“Well now that you’ve brought it up, you have to!” He said.
The muttered amongst themselves before turning back to him.
“No we don’t~” “In fact, we wont~”
They giggled quietly and smiled at him.
“…I wonder if your mother knows the two of you swim naked in the pond.” He questioned threateningly.
Their identical smiles faded.
“…You wouldn’t--.” one muttered.
“Oh but I would.” He insisted, glancing around the garden at the guests. “There’s your mother now.” He nodded in the direction.
The two bit their lips.
“..You’ve to ask for Elizabeth’s hand!” they blurted, gasps being exchanged between them.
“You've ruined the surprise! I could strangle them! Everyone went to so much effort to keep the secret.” Came the voice of Alois, who took the boy’s shoulder and lead him away.
The twins returned to muttering amongst themselves.
"Does everyone know?!" Ciel exclaimed in surprise at this newly discovered information.
"It’s why they've all come. This is your engagement party. You will ask Elizabeth for her hand under the gazebo and when she says yes-"
"But I don't know if I want to marry Elizabeth..." The earl interrupted the whispers.
"Well who then? You won't do better than a lady... That handsome face won't last forever Ciel... And you don't want to be a burden on your mother and father do you?"
"No..." he murmured in response.
"So, you will marry Elizabeth, You will be as happy as I am with Claude and your life will be perfect. It’s already decided!” Alois beamed, giving a glance around the garden with a large smile on his face.
