Emily paces in her small room later that day. Her mind is spinning from the thought of having to take the final test tomorrow before heading to Europe. Derek was confident and supportive enough that she would nail it, but she had her doubts.
A soft tap on her door stops her pacing. She hurries over to answer it, but not before she fixes her hair and make up in the mirror. She didn't want to look a mess for whoever it was, especially after that training session.
She grabs the door and pulls it open. Derek stands in the doorway, his hands sitting causally in the pockets of his jeans and his eyes glimmered with happiness.
"Can I come in for a few minutes? I have to talk to you about something." He looks down into her brown eyes as he speaks to her.
"Uh, sure. But I'll be leaving in like 10 minutes to get my coded tattoo. They insisted I got it earlier so I could leave for Europe tomorrow night after the test." She pulls the door back and closes it after he enters.
"They're making you leave tomorrow night? Seriously?" He says with disbelief, "It seems like you just got here."
"I know. They need me out on the field for this mission. I'm excited, but nervous for it all. What's Europe like? Where will I be going? The mystery is fascinating." Emily twirls her hair in circles as she talks, a habit she formed when she gets nervous.
"Yeah, I suppose it's great and all. I've been so many times I can hardly be excited." Derek said simply.
"Oh, I am sorry to leave you like this but I really got to go. A spy can never be late. I'll see you in the morning." She gathers her bag and head passed Derek, but is stopped when he grabs he upper arm.
"I wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow for the final test. I believe in you, Em. Remember, confidence is key to everything, especially for spies. I'll meet you outside the training room after the test for your results. I'm proud of you." He blushes at the last statement, and it makes him look so perfect. His green eyes closed as she smiled at him, as if he was committing that smile to memory.
"Thank you, Derek. I'll see you soon."
