Caring for me all stopped when I was seven

Caring for me all stopped when I was seven. Yep, seven years old. My dad never cared but my mom stopped caring as well. But who cares about what my dad cares about. The only thing that he's done for me is leave and I'm glad he did.

Back to my mother, It's like I live with her but she doesn't really care for me. She doesn't do what a mother's supposed to do. Ever since that half ass of a man left, she's blamed me for it and that's why she hates me so much.

My thought process was cut short when my little sister came running into my room.

"Do you ever knock? I can never get any privacy around here!"

"Sorry bro, mom told me to tell you to get up. It's time for school."

Great! One thing I hate most is school and school adds on to me hating my life.

"I'm getting up Bay."

"Okay!" I heard her say then run away from the door as I proceeded to get up and get ready for school.

Once I was done getting ready, I grabbed my things and went downstairs. I heard my mom and my sister carrying on a conversation about me, so I stopped to listen.

"Mommy, did you make food for Bryan?"

"Bailey, eat your food. It's your first day of first grade sweetie. And hurry up,I gotta get you to school." My 'mom' said as she fixed herself coffee.

I walked into the kitchen, grabbed an apple and took a bite out of it.

"Good morning big brother!" Bailey smiled while finishing up her cereal.

"Good morning.." I said dryly. It wasn't meant for Bailey but when she's around, I get so ... Yeah.

"You need to eat something else besides that," My mom told me. She had time to tell me everything that I didn't give a damn about but would never greet me.

I continued out of the kitchen eating my apple and ignoring her. I picked up my backpack and walked out the door. I looked across the street to see if my best friend was outside, waiting for me so we could walk to school together. The school was only like ten minutes away. The only way I would ride the bus is if it was raining. Bailey on the other hand, goes to a school uptown and gets dropped off everyday by her loving mother. She attends one of the best private schools that Brookyln offers.

"Hey big head!" I yelled across the street to my best friend while meeting up.

"Hey, you ready for your first day?" She said while meeting me. When I made it to the sidewalk, I waited on her so we could continue to walk on to school.

Paige was my best friend since forever and she's always lived across the street from me. "Do you really want me to answer that question?" I looked at her with no concern whatsoever.

"Bryan, chill. Everything will be okay since I'm here." She held onto my arm.

"But isn't that weird? A girl taking up for me?" I asked even though I already knew that it was.

Paige sucked her teeth. "Well you won't do anything about it so I have too. I know you're tired of the same old thing every year."

I didn't even reply. "Junior year will be different, I promise." She squeezed my arm.

For some reason, I believe her but I don't think anything good will be happening.

We finally made it to school and walked through the front doors of Brooklyn High. "They still have that same sign from last year up."

"Yeah, just because we live in the Bronx doesn't mean we're RICH!"

"So true." We laughed at an incident from when we were younger. A girl that just moved to Brooklyn thought that the people that lived around here were rich for some reason. I don't know who gave her that false information.

We continued down the hallway until we got to our locker. Paige and I get the same locker every year. "395, we meet again."

"Yeah." I said depressingly. Even though it would be nice to have one of the nice locker's on the high school side, they kept us on the old hall that the middle schoolers use. I was fine with it because for the moment when I have to put books away, I feel as if I don't have a worry in the world but as soon as I head back over to the high school side, it all hits me.

Anyways, on the other side of us is Clarice's locker. Paige swears that Clarice has a crush on me. She does smile at me a lot but it's kind of hard to believe that any of the girl's here like me. Dustin's locker is on the right side of us. "Ugh, here he comes." Paige said as she slammed the door of our locker. Dustin is the bully of the school and the star football player.

"Well, well, well.. If it isn't the sissy and the sissy's friend." Him and his crew laughed. Dustin's crew included Patrick, Kelly, and Carnell but Carnell wasn't here at the moment.

"Shutup Dustin! Atleast I don't hang with people that are competing for my spot. What do you have to say about that Michelle and Kelly?" She looked at Patrick and Kelly, referencing to Destiny's child how they all wanted the spotlight. It made me laugh.

"What you laughing at punk?" Dustin was obviously mad that he didn't have a come back but I didn't say anything to him. Paige looked at me and waited for me to respond to him. I just turned back around to my locker. "Yeah, like I thought! Come on guys.." They turned around to walk off until Paige had to say something else.

"Yeah! Don't make me roll up on y'all block!" She said as she got loud. Dustin turned around and rolled his eyes before walking off again.

"Yeah, Junior year will be different alright." I said as I slammed the locker door.

"It will be after you start standing up for yourself." She tried to tell me. The bell rang for us to report to the auditorium for the First Day Speech that we get every year. I hate those speeches. Total waste of time.

Paige guided me through the hall by holding onto my wrist. I just hoped that we wouldn't get separated. "Oh so you're leaving me for the fagget huh?" Paige stopped dead in her tracks. Had to be Carnell.

"Carnell, don't start that shit with me. I have constantly told you to stop calling him that!" She turned to me and yanked on my arm like I was in the wrong. "Now come on Bryan, let's find a seat."

I turned around and looked at Carnell. "This so-called fagget got your girl huh?" He looked at me like he was ready to fight but I stay ready at all times. I smirked as I disappeared back into the crowd again. Too bad that only happened in my imagination.

Paige pulled me pass a lot of kids until she found us good seats. Then our principal, Mr. Summdale, began his speech. "Good morning Brooklyn High School , home of the bengals!" Most people screamed. You know, the cheerleaders, the football team, baseball and basketball. All the physical people. "Welcome back and to all the ninth graders, welcome to your first day of high school!" He continued on with his speech but I stopped listening to him to tune in to the girls behind me.

"That's him right there. My sister said he's the sissy!"

Paige eyed and begged me to let her say something to them. "I'm about to go off on the little girls behind us."

"It's cool, they're only ninth graders."

"That doesn't mean that they should be picking on people."

"It's okay, Paige. They'll learn that the hard way."

"Okay. I'm cool then. I'm just going to sit here and not say a word." She slouched in her seat and folded her arms, while tapping her foot impatiently.

This is just the first day of school.

What does the rest of the year have in store?
