Two months later

I just got off work and I was now on my way to Paige's house to pick up Bailey for a minute. No, Paige and I haven't spoken since the incident but I did get a few things accomplished. I got a car for cheap and I managed to get two jobs. Still been working on the placement for Bailey but as of now, they're letting Ms. Karen keep her.

I drove up to Paige's house and got out. The door opened up and Bailey came storming out towards me. She greeted me with a hug, almost knocking me down. "Bryan!" She screamed.

"Hey Bay, you ready,"

"Yeah, I am." She smiled. She continued talking but I couldn't help but notice Paige standing at the door. I felt like it was time for us to talk now.

"Hold on Bailey, let me go talk to Paige real quick."

"Okay," she said as she got into the driver's seat.

I walked over to where Paige was and shoved my hands in my pockets. "Hey," I said to her and got no reply. She crossed her arms against her chest. "Listen, I just came to apologize. I apologize for not paying you any attention, I'm sorry if it seemed as if I didn't care. I'm sorry for keeping secrets and blowing up at you when I shouldn't have and I'm most definitely sorry for making you cry. You know I don't like to see you upset and since I'm getting my life together that shouldn't happen anymore. I've been through enough so I don't need you upset with me right now."

She rolled her eyes and tried to go back inside but I grabbed her. "Bryan!"

"Tomorrow, at seven! I'll be here to pick you up. Dress nicely. Please let me make it up to you." I begged.

She smiled slightly but she didn't want me to notice. "Bye Bryan." She said as she closed the door. I knew she was okay now.

I walked back to my car where Bailey was. She moved and got into the backseat as I took her place and headed off.

"Bry, I like your car a lot. Hopefully one day I can have one like it." She said while tracing the seat with her hand.

"Well if it's up to me, you will have one."

She smiled. I'm here to make her happy. I want her to have the life that I didn't have and if I can make that happen, my life would be perfect. I wanted to take Bailey out to just talk to her, make sure she's okay and see where her head's at.

We went to the park. We got out and ran to the swings; had some fun and shared a few laughs for a minute and then it was time to get serious.

"So Bailey, how've you been?"

"I've been good. I really like staying with Paige and Ms. Karen. They're nice and we go shopping and they buy Me clothes and--"

"Ok, ok, enough with the run ons," I laughed.

"Oh, I just have a lot of fun with them. But I'm sure I could have just as much fun... If I was with you." She shrugged.

I smiled. "I know but right now, it is best for you to stay with Ms. Karen until we have to go to court."

"Bryan?"

"Yes?"

"Is it bad if I feel like I don't miss mom?" She asked me.

"Well, I can't answer that. My answer would be totally wrong. But you shouldn't hate her. She's been through a lot in her childhood so she really doesn't know how to love anybody. Including herself, let alone raise her children. What I want you to know is that Ronald didn't have good intentions with you. Nobody should tell you to take your clothes off. Do you understand me? No one."

She nodded. I felt myself getting upset and I could tell she was too only because of me. I sighed. "I just don't know what I would've done if he really would've hurt you. I can't imagine you going through what I went through. When you're older, I'm sure you'll understand." I patted her back.

"Bryan, I'm glad you were put on this earth to be my big brother. I love you so much and I don't care how you live your life, I'll support you 100%." She smiled and I couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm glad to hear that Bay but I'm not gay. Ronald is. That's what men do in jail when they get locked up for so long.. Never mind. I'll explain this to you when you're older." I shook my head thinking about who would explain to her about the birds and the bees. It was getting late so I had to get Bailey back to Ms. Karen's house. "Let's go." We hopped down from the pinic table we were sitting on and went back to my car.

After taking Bailey back, I headed back to my place. I had all kinds of thoughts in my head about tomorrow like what I should wear, what is Paige going to wear, do I need to get a haircut, should I clean up? I'm confused. I've never been on a date before. Should I even consider this a date? Since you know, Paige is my best friend? I don't know anything. I just want tomorrow to be perfect. Just me and her.
