My sister is changing lives.

After her funeral, the group that bullied Carmen were questioned by the headmistress. It turned out that they all had their own problems at home, and belittling my sister as a group made them feel stronger. These problems were resolved, and now they dedicate their time to making sure everyone knows about bullying and how they can help people in a situation like Carmen's. Their troubles are no excuse for what they did to her, but I take comfort in knowing that they don't want it to happen again.

On the front wall of the school hangs a wooden plaque. Engraved on it is a picture of an elephant, and the phrase:

Never forget the power of your words - Forever in loving memory of Carmen Swancott.

I will never forget my sister, and I hope that everyone here will remember what happened to her if they ever think about hurting another person in any way. I hope that we will be able to stop people here from bullying others, and to make this school into a close society where no one feels like they're not good enough.

After all, there's no society closer than a herd of elephants.
