"Okay Miss Skye, you are reading for the part of whom?"
"American Dream sir."
I made sure I stood at attention, with my body stiff. I learned this in YouTube last night. Shannon is a soldier like Captain America, so I made sure to have that presence.
"Thank you Miss Skye, our casting decision is all based on this performance. I will be reading the part of Bucky, while you will be reading the part of Shannon."
My mouth went instantly dry and my hands started to sweat as I repeated that name over and over again in my head.
Bucky... Bucky... Bucky..
"Miss Skye, are you ready?"
"Yes sir, I am."
"Very well, let's get started shall we?"
He pushes up his glasses and skims the page with his finger to find the part.
"Shannon, you don't understand. He was all I had left. Even when I had nothing, I had Steve."
I tighten my jaw as my lip begins to quiver.
The memories from my youth come flooding in, causing tears to lightly spill from my eyes.
"Bucky, I know you loved him. I loved him too! But we can't stay here! The police will be here any second."
"I can't leave him! I can't!"
I pull the emotions from my soul and my voice begins to shake with each word.
"Bucky, we have to go. Please.. Come on."
"End Scene!"
The casting table begins to applaud and I just stood there awkwardly, not knowing what was happening.
The casting director came around the table and shook my hand.
"Congratulations! You've got the part!"
My smile grew wide and I started to cry real tears, happy tears.
"Thank you so much! I promise you I won't let you down!"
He smiled at me and patted my hand, then retreated back to the table to grab some paperwork.
"Here is the full script, please go over it. Also included in the packet are the shooting dates and locations, plane tickets, payment form, press release forms, and costume fitting dates."
I quickly skimmed through the packet smiling my face off.
"Oh! And we would like to start shooting in the next three weeks in New York. You will have a trailer on location complete with a bedroom, bathroom, etc."
Oh my god. This isn't anything I imagined it would be. I pictured a crappy trailer and rushing around everywhere like on Broadway.. But this is the big leagues. I feel like... like... a star.
"Welcome to the Marvel Family Miss Skye."

In a hotel in New York City
"Sir, the part for Shannon Carter has been cast."
"Really? Who got the role?"
"Her name is Emilia Skye, a C-List actress from New York."
She passes her file to him from across the table. He flips through it and stops at her picture.
"Hmm.. I think we will get along just fine. Thank you Bernice."
"You're welcome Mister Stan."
"Come on Bernice, start calling me Sebastian."
