Four Years ago..

I walked hand and hand with my best friend. She and I have always been close. My father and her mother were best friend's growing up and then they separated for a few years because of college. When they came back to our hometown, my father was engaged to my mother. While Raquel's mother was already married when she came back.

They were always close. Our mothers got pregnant near the same time and that's how Raquel and I got here. We have been best friends since the womb. Fourteen years together, many more to go. Raquel had these beautiful hazel green eyes with her dirty blonde hair against her perfectly tanned skin. She was a beautiful girl.

We grew up down the street from each other which is where we met Ian.

Ian was a major tomboy. He always liked to play dirty and hard. While Raquel and I hated dirt. After a while though, we became fond of the dirt and fighting. He taught us what it was like to actually have fun.

"-nd we should go get ice cream," Raquel said.

"What?" I asked. I must've zoned out.

"Meredith, you do this all of the time," she laughed. "I said that we should go get Ian and then go get ice cream."

"Yeah, that should be fun," I smiled.

"Alright," she said as we ran across the street.

"So how are you and Brett?" I asked.

"We're good. He's been distant lately but that's because of his parents pressuring him on his school work," she sighed.

"You guys will work it all out. Don't worry about a thing. I know it's hard now but it can only go uphill from now, right," I said with a friendly smile.

"What would I do without you?" She smiled.

"Die," I joked.

"Well I don't ever plan on dying, Honey. I plan on sticking around for a long time," she smiled as we met up with Ian in front of his house.

"Ready to go?" I asked.

"I guess," he partially smiled.

He was probably upset about something. Ian is a year older than Raquel and I. We walked down the sidewalk to the local ice cream shop. Raquel was the only one in the mood for ice cream though.

She got a waffle cup with four scoops of ice cream in it, hot fudge, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, and cherries.
