"Break up with him."

"I-I can't... Josh is ——"

I can't finish what I am trying to say....natatakot ako. Break up? With someone I'm with for the last 4 years? He's the only one who's making me feel alive.... But she want me to end it? For her own interest?

"I don't care about that filthy guy, Georgia. I need you to break up with him before Garnettʼs parents see this." She never raised her voice but she still screams authority. A controlling person, I'd describe her.

"D-Did you ask me, mom? If I'm okay with marrying someone I don't even love?"

I asked. Nag karoon din ako ng tapang na mag tanong. Pipilitin kong ipaglaban ang sarili at nararamdaman ko kahit alam kong walang kasiguraduhan kung mapapakinggan ba ang daing ko.

"Love? Don't give me that idiocy, Georgia. Get yourself together."

The side of her upper lip rose as she look at me with disbelief. Idiocy?

"Have you felt it? Love?"

I asked. I don't know where I get the courage to look at her straight in her eyes. Her usual compose expression suddenly changes. First time I saw a different expression plastered on her face, irritation.

"What kind of childish question is that, Georgia?"

Tanong nito pabalik. Pinipigilan ang sariling kumawala sa normal  na karakter nito. I looked at dad and mom alternately.

"Do you love each other? Did you marry him because you love him?"  I asked again, looking at her as if I am interrogating her. Ganoon din ba ang ginawa ng magulang niya sa kanya? Marry her off to someone she doesn't love at all? Kaya ba ginagawa rin nito iyon sa akin?

"I chose her. I love your mom, Georgia."

George Chavez answered. My dad, with his usual stern voice. I smiled bitterly. He chose her. He loves her. What about her?

"Does she felt the same way?"  I asked bravely.

My mom looked at me with piercing eyes.

"Georgia —"

"Of course. Isn't your existence enough to prove that?" Dad calmly interrupted. I lowered my head as I smile bitterly. It's enough proof that I am a mere product of their relationship.

"I swear to god, Georgia. If you asked any more stupid stuff, I'll do everything to get you back to normal." she said with voice full of authority.

"I'm normal mom. I'm totally fine." I said in low voice.
