The rest of geology went painfully slow. Being the new girl I was trying to avoid drawing attention to myself and just get on with my work. Call me a nerd but I actually wanted to pass and with any luck do well. With Adam however that wasn't going to happen. Every time I would go to read something he would tap me on the shoulder over and over until I turned around.

"What?" I would whisper shout at him.

"Nothing" he'd say back smirking.

I was going to kill him. After 10 incessant minutes of this I'd had enough. The next time he tried that trick I just stuck my middle finger up in his direction without turning around.

"Tut tut tut. I'm disappointed Miss Winters" Adam mocked.

"Piss off Adam".

He would just laugh to himself and start again. Matt and Drew were no help either. Drew spent him time throwing pick up lines at the girl across the aisle from him who received them eagerly, flipping her hair and giggling. Ugh seriously. And Matt just say on his phone for most of the lesson occasionally glanced up to grin at me and Adam before copying the answers from the back of the textbook.

When I was finally released from geology Matt walked me to French as promised. I would have gotten completely lost if he hadn't. French was in a whole different building all the way across the school site so the numbers on the rooms were all funny. I stood no chance of guessing where it was.

"Thank you" I said to Matt when we reached the class.

"You gonna be around at lunch?" He asked.

I gave a light laugh, "Hell yeah. That's as long as I can find my way back".

"Do you want me to come and meet you?" He asked.

I smiled up a him, "please".

He easily returned my smile. "I'll see you in an hour. Don't die of boredom" he winked before walking away.

French wasn't too bad. Weirdly enough it was a subject I actually really liked, probably my favourite. It's a pretty language and considering most people couldn't speak it all that well it was great fun to insult them without them knowing what I'm saying.

The lesson passed rather quickly and I didn't have to do the whole new girl introduction thing this time which was great. I sat near the back next to a friendly looking girl whose name I couldn't remember. We had to do some listening tasks and writing which wasn't too bad. Wo got introduced to a French assistant, a young girl maybe 18 who came over to get some experience of teaching a foreign language. We were told she hopes to go to college so she can teach English as a foreign language back in France. She introduced herself as Eloise, she looked quite nervous as she stood there twisting her bracelets around her wrist while her short dark hair fell in front of her face.

The teacher made her introduction quick before selecting individual students to go out and talk to Eloise on a one-to-one basis.  For some weird reason she started at the end of the register so of course I had to go first. I was so nervous as I walked across the class to reach the door. I hadn't spoken French since before the summer. Was I even going to remember any of it?

When I got outside I was greeted by a friendly smile if slightly shy but that was all I needed. It gave me the confidence boost to say hello and start a conversation. Thank god. Once we'd started speaking it was fine, Eloise became more confident and the French came back to be without a problem.

After that the lesson went pretty quick which I couldn't be happier for. I was starving and I'd bought a bag of Doritos on the way to school. I couldn't wait for lunch. When the teacher dismissed us I eagerly shoved my books in bag and headed outside to where Matt said he'd meet me. And as promised he stood against the wall arms crossed over his chest, one foot on the wall behind him, looking down at the floor so his blonde wavy hair fell across his forehead and shielded his blue eyes.
