I gripped onto the side of the bath in shock, knuckles white at the force, as I gaped down the the thing resting between my fingers, the white stick almost pulsating with a revelation that will send shockwaves through the family.
How the ever loving fuck was this even possible?!
"BRICE! Get your ass in here now!!" I cried hoarsely, not taking my eyes off the pregnancy test, my fingers shaking as my eyes flicked over the tiny screen.
Positive. As were the other two I had taken previously.
I was fucking pregnant again.
Footsteps rushed swiftly to the bathroom door, and there was a tentative knock, before the handle turned, and Brice peeked his head in, mild worry in his features.
"Baby? What's..." he trailed off, eyes glancing down at the pregnancy test in my hand, freezing in the doorway, breath hitching, going pale as a sheet. I sighed, rubbing my temple with my free hand.
"If you pass out this time I swear to god I'm going to stick this test so far up your ass you'll taste it." I hissed, eyes narrowing, trying to mask the stab of slight panic slicing through me at my husbands blank expression, eyes locked on the test.
Did he... want another child? It's not like we had a choice now, but will it be too much for him?
We never expected for me to be able to conceive again - there was a lot of damage when Spud was born, we didn't think it would be possible!
And now, here we are, sixteen years later. Oh god, we're one of those parents, who have huge age gaps between-
Oomph
My mind cut off as warm, tender lips slammed into mine, parted slightly, tongue probing out and brushing my own, and I let Brice slip his tongue in, savouring this sweet, passionate kiss, moaning as I melted into it - until I felt a warm wetness on my cheeks.
I pulled back, opening my eyes after they had slipped shut due to that amazing smooch, to find Brice grinning down at me, a wobbly smile on his face so wide I thought he'd break his jaw, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Oh my god, Seto, baby, you're- you're pregnant?!" he rushed out breathlessly, eyes sparkling with that blue fire I love so much.
I smiled back, my panic dissipating, a joyful warmth spreading through my chest as he practically buzzed with excitement. He was so cute sometimes, it's unbelievable.
"Yeah. Looks like we got lucky." I whispered, smiling brightly as he laughed, nuzzling my nose with his, arms snaking around my waist, holding me in a loving embrace. I wrapped my arms around him also, loving the feeling of being held by my husband. I love this dork.
"I'm so proud of you, baby." he murmured, burying his face in my hair, still grinning like an idiot. My idiot. I giggled, squeezing him gently.
"It was a team effort, I suppose. I can't believe it, Brice. Another baby. Lorcan's going to be a big brother." I said, wide eyed, feeling my face flush with emotion.
No matter what the stubborn git says, I can tell that sometimes he's jealous of his friends and their siblings, being an only child and all. But now, he's going to be so happy. He'll never admit it, but he'll be overjoyed.
"Dad, why are you and papa hugging in the bathroom?" a voice suddenly mumbled with slight disgust from behind me, and I turned, smiling widely at my son, who was still half asleep, having just gotten out of bed, an annoyed scowl on his face.
Bitch, it's eleven, you should have been up ages ago, so don't even give me that look.
Oh god, I can imaging him making the same face when the baby wakes us all up at night, the same face he'll make when the baby throws a tantrum. Jeez, I'm tearing up already. Bring on the emotions.
Lorcan's scowl melted into a slightly worried frown, the tiredness melting from his features instantly, moving forward hesitantly.
"Dad, what's wrong, why are you crying?" he asked a little anxiously, and that was it, I couldn't take it.
I stumbled out of Brice's arms and towards my boy, encasing him in my arms, hugging him tight as I wept quietly, so happy. I was so happy.
Lorcan immediately wrapped his arms around me too, a little awkward because of the height difference - damn Brice and his godly genetics - and rubbed my back, seemingly a bit bewildered.
"Dad? Papa, why is dad crying?" he asked again, in a more hushed tone as he held me tight. He may like to think he's all grown up sometimes, but this just proves that he's still my little boy. My baby Spud.
I could hear Brice chuckle behind me, and another strong arm wrapped around my shoulders, Brice squishing Lorcan and I in a rare Solace Family Group Hug.
"Do you wanna tell him or shall I?" Brice muttered, Lorcan making a grunt of confusion as we pulled away, still huddled close, although now we could all see each other's face. Lorcan was still frowning, although he looked relieved to see our smiles.
I looked up at my son, my cocky, sassy, asshole little boy, and beamed, wiping away a tear and pulling he test back out of my hand from where it was concealed in my fist.
"Y-you're... you're going to be a big brother, baby boy." I croaked, showing him the positive test, seeing how his eyes bugged in shock, gawking at me as if I'd sprouted another head.
His grip on my shoulder tightened, like he was trying to ground himself, and I looked at him warily. If he's the one to faint I'll know that he takes after Brice more.
"You- pregnant, b-baby... Brother?" he managed to splutter out, and I rolled my eyes. He must be in shock to be reduced to caveman speak.
"Yes. I'm pregnant. With a baby. Which makes you a big brother." I explained patiently, knowing his brain seemed to be short circuiting right now.
I almost expected this. After growing up as a single child only to find out he's going to have a sibling must be quite the change.
He blinked rapidly a few times, then let out a breath as if he'd had the wind knocked out of him, staring at me as he finally finished processing. I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes at him.
"I'm going to be a brother?" he asked quietly, meekly looking at me, eyes wide and shiny, like a little kid who's just been told about Santa. I smiled, pulling him close and giving him and affectionate hug. Adorable brat.
"Yeah. Are you happy?" I whispered chuckling a little as he refused to budge, still clinging to me like a damn monkey. He nodded, pulling his head out and smiling up genuinely, eyes gleaming, so much like his fathers.
Suddenly, a flash of disgust spread across his face with a grimace, and he stood up abruptly, glaring a little at Brice and I.
"Wait. That means you two- oh my god! I sleep in the room next to yours, please don't tell me... Ew! You are two dirty old men, I swear to god!" he ranted, flustered like a spitting cat, probably only just gauging the fact that to make babies, there needs to be some 'activity' that goes first.
Brice laughed, pulling a spluttering Spud toward us, back into the Group Hug. Huh, two in one day.
"Oh Spud, you're gonna love changing diapers. And feeds at midnight. And three hours sleep." he giggled, Lorcan groaning, burying his face between our bodies morosely, although he didn't pull out of the hug.
I smiled, feeling Brice's hand curl around my waist, resting on my flat tummy, a buzz of excitement thrumming through me.
Another little addition to the family. A sibling for Lorcan, and a little bundle of joy for Brice and I to juggle, as well as managing a teenage son and insane uncles.
I can't wait.
>< Poor Lorcan. He's inherited his papas 'lightning reflexs'. XD Gonna see Roo's birth in the future! Hope you enjoyed this!
