"Drake what do we do??" I whisper, grabbing a fistful of his sleeve as I watch them disappear "let's just play cards, maybe the guards are taking them out to lunch and-" I shoot him am angry look *cough* "anyways, I was suggesting we follow them from a distance and go from there" "first" I decide "we are going to need some weapons" we run into the now smoldering store house and find a bin full of old weapons. Swords and daggers, a bow and sheath of arrows, machetes, a few explosives, and a small vile of poison. I smirk and grab the poison, along with the untouched explosives "how did they not go off? The guards set off explosives in here-" "nope" Drake tosses me a small burnt ball "smoke balls and gun shots, they were just trying to scatter and confuse them" I brush my hair away from my face and continue. I find a dagger holder and tie it to my thigh and put the dagger into it. I grab a sword and put the case in Drake's backpack full of explosives from the castle. He picks up the bow and arrows and looks to Me for further directions. "We need a way in" "can't you do your magic or something?" "I can't do magic, okay? Yes I'm immortal, yes I have wings, but im not a witch" "your parents were, you have to be able to do some thing" "I can't!" I wail, ashamed that I'm not near as special as my parents. "I don't know anything, I'll never live up to them, I'll never be as good. they were raised here, Drake, in the forever. I was raised by mortals" he sighs "listen, they did things their l their way, you have your own style. You do it your way. Now go get us in there" I sigh and glance around. "Okay. Let's start walking and see if there's an unguarded entrance" "really?" I shoot him an agitated glare and he shrugs "okay, I'll follow" we start stalking around the castle. After 20 minuets of licked windows, bolted doors, and a few close calls of getting caught, we finally find the old army wing. We can tell because of all the old weapons laying around. I walk over and pick up a sword "how unusually lucky..." Drake states as he kicks am old spear "it hadn't been used in decades I bet" we walk over to the old door, vines wove around it and a few small trees blocked it. I wrapped my hand around the old styled handle and pulled hard. After the snap of some vines and a Loud creaking noise, I was able to pull the door open just enough for us to fit through. As soon as we get in we pull the door closed. "So... We're in" Drake says "now what?" "We find Jake and jewel" I state, grabbing a hold of my dagger that was hidden on my leg under my skirt and start forward through the dark. I find an old furnace next to some torches. I put some coal in one and pump up the already red coals. Apparently this is where the maids empty old embers, by throwing them down the shaft into the old united furnace. After I get a blaze going I swing it around the room. And to my horror, I find the most mortifying thing I've ever seen.
Cages line the walls, tall and short, wide and thin. Thick, metal cages, rusted with time. But it's the contents that threaten to show me my Lunch again. Bones lay strewn about the place, done still with flesh on them. Bodies stranded info the wall, standing upright in a cage, the lifeless corpse being held in place by 4 spears going straight through their body. An oven with a pit of off colored ashes next to it, and a noose in the middle, displaying a bulged eyed girl, like a trophy. Heads lined above the walls, mounted like animals, their glass eyes peering into my soul. I open a huge chest and find rat poison next to cups and dry water pitchers. I drop the lid and back up into Drake, his horrified expression matching mine. "Hey Emma? I don't think this is an army entrance... Why would the army need to be in the castle?" "It's the murder room, Drake" I glance at a bucket under a man with a slit throat, stained with blood "and it's not just a murder room" I say, walking over to a bench. 3 candles are lined in the back over a pentagram and sculls. Ancient scribbling in the middle, under a huge cup with fresh blood in it. "They sacrifice people, they're into black magic. Summoning something bigger than us" I say, watching as a man, hung by his feet with no head, drops a final drop off blood "and it looks like they just had a kill yesterday" if they kill them here, then they just hold them close" Drake says, stepping in front of me "how about we test that theory" and with that he walks to a huge stone door in the corner, unlike the rest, it looks used, no dirt where it swings open and the handle clean right where you grip it. I swing it open and hold the torch down the hallway. Stone with vines greet us on both sides, and a damp floor beneath us. "Well, let's go get them out" I say, starting to walk down the hallway. It eventually opens up to a huge room lined with more cages, but these are well kept. Clean and newer, they look used often. In the corner I hear a sob. I slowly walk over shine the light in. A pale little girl is crouched on the floor, a tattered dress hanging off her tiny frame. She looks down and keeps shaking a woman "mama, mama please get up. It's not funny mama, please!" Them her sobs start again until she looks over "you aren't a guard..." She says, wiping her face with a small hand. She can't be more than 4, and from the looks of it, add small as a two year old. A faint shimmer of invisible wings shine behind her and she not fully sitting on the ground. "Why are you here?" I ask, searching for something to pick the lock with "my mom's shouldn't have had me, she was a mortal and my dad was one of... You. I could see the invisible ones and learned how to fly so they took us away. They left us here and she went to sleep two days ago and won't wake up" a tear slides down her dirt streaked cheek. "Is there anything else you've learned?" "I can do this" she says, and looks at a pebble and it lifts "holy shit! A telekinetic!" "No, Drake. A mutation, the army" I raise a brick above my head and bring it down on the lock, smashing it. The little girl runs into my arms sobbing "please save me, please" I wrap my arms around her "hush baby, what's your name?" "Lilly" she said, looking at me with her huge blue eyes as she shivers her blonde hair out of her eyes "I'll help you" I say and she burries her face in my dress "are you a princess? You look pretty like one" I think back to everything I've been through so far, and everything Lucifer has put my family and I through all these years. It's time someone actually stood up to the dictatorship. He's gone but his followers remain. "Yes lovely" I say quietly, hugging the shaking child "my name is Emma, and I'm the rightful princess of the forever"
