Sleeping Lily

Chapter 3

Lily Potter was enjoying her train ride back home, as she was the only one in her compartment. Both of the cousins she had been sitting with had gone somewhere. Dominique went to go hang out with her girlfriend, Genevieve Chang, and Hugo left to go flirt with Abby Thomas and then get embarrassed when she asked if he was flirting with her. She was alone for a little while so she decided to sing a little. She took out her mobile and searched the WizNet for a song. She decided on one called "Love Story" by a muggle singer called Taylor Swift. She listened to it once or twice, then she realised it was about Romeo and Juliet. She started the song over and started to sing. "We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and the flashback starts I'm standing there, on a balcony in summer air..." Little did Lily know that Scorpius, woken up from his nap by the trolley lady, had decided to pay her a visit. He stopped short of the compartment door Lily had forgotten to close and listened. He thought, She has the most fluid voice. Like silk or honey. He listened to her sing until the chorus. "Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, it's a love story baby just say yes." She stopped, for an unknown reason. Actually, it was a known reason. Scorpius had stepped on a leaf that one of her cousins brought on and Lily had noticed. The Slytherin boy clapped for Lily, as he enjoyed hearing her sing. He fully walked in to be greeted by a fiercely blushing Lily. "You heard that? Was it horrible?" She asked, suddenly self-conscious. Scorpius shook his head. "I think yours is the most beautiful voice I've heard in awhile. And I'm not just saying that because the only one I've heard in awhile was Madison Parkinson's, and Al can confirm this, she sounds like a dying whale." Lily laughed her tinkling bell laugh. "Is she really that bad?" She asked in between fits of giggles. Scorpius nodded which made Lily laugh harder. She patted the seat next to her, motioning for him to sit down. He gladly obliged. "Want to sing a song with me?" She asked, tapping her phone to search another song. He nodded hesitantly, "I guess. I've never really sang anything before." Lily searched a duet and found one by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, another very popular muggle artist. They listened to it twice, then they got the hang of it. Lily began to sing. "All I knew, this morning when I woke, is I know something now, know something now, that I didn't before. And all I've seen, since 18 hours ago is blue eyes that sparkle and your smile, in the back of my mind making me feel like...I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now. I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now." Scorpius decided to jump in at this point. "I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now. I just wanna know you, know you, know you." Lily smiled brightly at him as they sang. "All I know is we said hello. And your eyes looked like coming home, all I know is a simple name, and everything has changed. All I know is you held the door. You'll be be mine and I'll be yours, all I know since yesterday, is everything has changed." Then Lily stopped and flashed Scor a brilliant smile, as it was his turn to sing alone. "And all my walls stood tall, painted blue. And I'll take 'em down, take 'em down, and open up the door for you." Lily listened, falling more in love with him than she had previously been, anadromous began to sing again. "And all I feel, in my stomach there's butterflies. The beautiful kind, making up for lost time. Taking flight making me feel like..." Lily motioned for Scorpius to start singing again and he did. I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now. I just wanna know you, know you, know you..." At this point, the both of them had gotten up and were dancing with each other. As Scorpius twirled Lily, they started into the chorus again. "All I know is we said hello. And your eyes looked like coming home, all I know is a simple name. Everything has changed. All I know is you held the door. You'll be mine and and I'll be yours, all I know since yesterday is, is everything has changed." He pulled her close and held onto her as they swayed to the music. "Come back and tell me why, I'm feeling like I missed you all this time. And meet me there tonight. Just let me know that it's not all in my mind." He unwrapped himself from Lily and let her sing some by herself. "I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now. I just wanna know you, know you, know you." Lily looked straight into his eyes and told him (with her eyes) to sing again. "All I know is we said hello. Your eyes looked like coming home, all I know is a simple name, and everything has changed. All I know is you held the door, you'll be mine and I'll be yours, all I know since yesterday is, is everything has changed." He dropped out again, but continued humming the melody and twirling around with Lily. She, however, still sang. "All I know is we said hello. So dust off your highest hopes. All I know is pouring rain, and everything has changed. All I know is your newfound grace. All my days I'll know your face. All I know since yesterday is, is everything has changed." She finished as Scorpius twirled her back into his arms. "That was the most beautiful duet I've ever heard." Scorpius breathed as they sat down. Lily nodded. "And now I'm tired, all that singing and dancing." Scorpius wrapped his arm around her and she snuggled into his arm. "You can go to sleep, Flower. I'll protect you."
         About an hour later, Dom and Gen peeked in on Lily, who was sleeping soundly on Scorpius, who was also asleep. "I think that they make the perfect couple," she giggled, "Just like us." Dom kissed her on the cheek. "I know,"she replied,"Aren't I a great matchmaker?" The two girls laughed quietly, careful not to wake the sleeping two, and walked down the hall.
