Chapter 4
ELIZA'S POV
After Alyssa finished her speech about honour and history we were put into groups of five, organised by tutors with lists of teams which would be our roommates.
I was paired with four girls my age, each one very different to the other. The first girl I noticed in my group was a girl named Sky, a fierce looking girl with caramel skin. Her eyes were a deep hazel and her thick chocolate coloured hair highlighted her air of mystery.
Another of my roommates was a short girl named Arya, her hair was silver white and cut into a bob, working with her pale skin to make her look like a ghost. Her green eyes were playful and she seemed somewhat innocent.
The last two were identical twins; Isla and Maya. Their black curly hair fell all the way to their waists and they looked like dolls.
I didn't concentrate much on who Sean was paired with but from what I've heard the students in the older years are usually paired with the same students they were with in the year before, with only some changes where needed.
"Attention," Alyssa called once again "All students in the freshman year will report to the dining room in two hours once you are all settled, we have an important announcement."
I thought I saw Sean wince from my left, but I'm pretty sure it was just my imagination.
"Hmmm, I wonder what the announcement is about." I turn and gaze at my roommates.
"I don't know... what if we did something wrong?" Maya worries, chewing her nails.
"Don't be so silly, what could have we done? We just got here!" Isla quips, patting her sisters arm absentmindedly.
"Well we'll never know until we get there." Sky shrugs.
"Well it's only natural to worry on your first day!" Arya nods energetically.
"Well we better go see our room then," I smile, pointing down the hall.
"Oh yeah, of course we will!" Isla laughs and grabs Maya by the arm.
"I'll race ya!" Maya chuckles.
"It's on!" Isla, Maya and Arya cry at the same time.
I watch them and laugh. I feel like I have just entered pre-school.
"Ready," Maya says getting ready to go.
"Set," Isla smiles getting into start position.
"GO!" Arya calls.
They all speed off laughing and pushing; trying to get to the room first which is only about thirteen steps away.
"Have I gone back a few years or what?" Sky sighs, smiling lazily at me.
"Nope, I think the pre-schoolers just went up a few levels." I laugh, which is soon accompanied by Sky's.
Sky and I walk ahead of where the twins and Arya are play-fighting and enter the room.
The room is gorgeous, high-tech and shiny. It's huge with four Queen Size double beds.
"I dibs this one!" I laugh childishly, jumping onto the nicest looking one in the back corner next to the bathroom.
Sky jumps onto the one next to me and begins fluffing up her pillow, pulling out her i-Pod.
Isla and Maya scurry in and jump onto the bed next to Sky, leaving Arya walking sulkily through the door and onto the bed next to the door.
"So where are you all from?" I ask, staring at the roof as I lay on my bed.
"We live about three hours away from here on a farm," Isla responds "It's a dream out there, acres and acres of freedom."
"I live half an hour away, but I'm originally from Switzerland," Arya says "what about you Eliza?"
"An hour away from here," I respond, "Sky?"
"Egypt."
Her response is short but you can hear the pain in her voice. Her family must be far away from her reaches.
"Alright then," Maya says, bouncing off her bed "Now that we have beds let's go down to the dining room for the freshman's special talk!"
We all follow her down the hallway silently.
Eventually we enter the grand dining room, crowded by people looking as confused and new as us. Most people are gather in groups of five, sticking close to their newfound friends.
Alyssa stands at the front at a podium, a sombre look on her face.
"I have something very important to tell you all. Something that your parents couldn't tell you until you were ready, I need you all to listen closely. Now when I tell you, do not fret. It will be a surprise but if you start any loud chatter I won't be able to explain all the important details," Alyssa calls out, projecting her voice firmly, "You're all spies."
