You were his experiment. Nothing more, nothing less.
In a way, the situation you were in was your own fault. The black rabbit, Kuro Usagi, had told you quite clearly that if you entered this world you wouldn't be able to go back. But you came anyway. He had found you and almost instantly claimed you. Your role was easy, he had told you. All you had to do was follow along with his experiments. That wasn't always as easy as it sounded though. The 'medicines' that he made usually had cruel effects on you. Paralysis, temporary loss of sight, vomiting, severe stomach aches and high fevers had now become a part of your daily routine. The effects of his drugs weren't the end of it though. You weren't obedient. You wouldn't do as he asked quietly. You resisted. You fought back. You tried to escape. As a result, the 'medicines' he forced you to take had even worse effects, the leather restraints he had used to keep you in place were replaced with metal; and, after your fourth escape attempt, he now kept you in a small cage in the far corner of his laboratory with the unbearable stench of chemicals that both hung damp in the air and wafted from your hair, skin and clothes. It didn't take long for you to regret your choice of leaving the boring world that you had once lived in, but you knew there was no way to get back. Not that he would let you, even if there was a way.
--
You awoke to the sight of the thick bars of your cage. Across the room was the man who held you captive, Sangatsu Usagi. He was leaning over a bench, his orange eyes glittering with concentration.
Suddenly, you felt your breath catch in your throat. You broke into a coughing fit as you struggled to breathe.
Sangatsu looked up from the bench and cast his gaze towards you.
You managed to develop a weak breathing pattern and focused on this rather than the rabbit advancing towards you.
He stopped in front of your cage and looked down at you with a blank expression.
Your breathing was ragged as you struggled to force the chemical ridden air down your throat.
Sangatsu knelt down and and unlocked the cage door. Unable to move your body, you cast your eyes upward. He took hold of your arm and dragged you along the cage floor towards him and positioned you so that your back and head rested against his chest. He gently held both of your hands in one of his, and the other rested against your neck, gently squeezing here and there.
"Heh. It's still swollen." He mused. He pulled your mouth open and dropped a pill inside. "This one will stop the swelling." He informed you as he covered your mouth with his hand, something that had become a habit of his after the numerous times you had spat whatever foul medicine he made you take back in his face. It took all of your effort to encourage your throat to take in the medicine. Sangatsu continued to keep your mouth covered until he could feel your struggled breathing against his hand. He released your mouth and your throat healed in a matter of seconds and your breathing slowly returned to normal. "Good girl." He praised as he tilted your head back. "Now this one." He uncorked a bottle of clear liquid and slowly poured it down your throat before covering your mouth again.
You swallowed the liquid before coughing violently once he removed his hand from your mouth. He chuckled before rolling your still paralysed body back into the cage and locking the door. "The paralysis will wear off eventually." Sangatsu said, standing up. "I'll deal with you later." He turned on his heel and moved back to his bench.
Tears began to well in your eyes. You hated this, being nothing more than an experiment for him. You wanted to go back home where you were more than a piece of flesh to experiment on.
--
A knock at the lab's door echoed through the room, pulling Sangatsu's attention from the chemicals set neatly in front of him.
You, yourself couldn't care less. You hadn't seen all of Wonderland's residents yet, and it wasn't likely that you ever would. You had met King a few times and you had seen a quick glance of Boushiya and you had also seen Kuro a few times after your arrival in this wretched world.
Right now, you were sitting on the operating table, wearing nothing on your upper half besides your bra. Sangatsu had decided to experiment on you using injections and in the past few hours you had taken three injections and you found it surprising that you could move, let alone think straight. Your vision was slightly faded, reducing everything to pastel colours, making it hard to see the difference between the white and the yellow squares on your Rubik's Cube, where your attention was currently focused.
"King is getting impatient." Kuro's voice said from the opposite room where Sangatsu was now.
'Well, maybe King needs to realise that the drugs he wants are tested on me first' You thought as you matched another face on the cube before moving onto the next colour. You could only match one face at a time rather that the whole cube since you didn't have the formula to complete it.
The door opened with barely a squeak and Sangatsu walked in with Kuro following close behind, gnawing on his fingers as he usually did.
You sighed deeply as he began to rattle off what each of the medicines did to you.
"This one...I'm not sure exactly," He said, swirling the yellow liquid around in its jar. "since she won't tell me. But, with the way she's struggling with that box of hers, I would assume that it has done something to her sight."
You flinched for a second before returning to the Rubik's Cube, turning the pieces more aggressively which only made Sangatsu chuckle. "Ah, that reminds me...how does she taste to you? Tell me?"
'It's a trap. He'll make it harder for you to die.' You said in your mind, turning another section.
"Will I die?" Kuro questioned.
'Idiot. You're immortal.' Another row.
"Perhaps. Since she's so full of chemicals, she might kill you."
'If all those drugs didn't kill me, they won't kill an immortal rabbit.'
You felt a hand hold your head steady before an audible crunch echoed loudly through your ear. Your eyes widened at the sensation of Kuro biting down on your right ear, and the Rubik's Cube slipped from your fingers and rolled off the operating table and onto the floor.
The black rabbit pulled away and you lifted your hand to your now blood-coated ear.
"It makes her feel everything easier too..." Sangatsu said, grinning as he wrote down what he now knew.
"Bitter..." Kuro muttered, stepping back.
"You had better take the medicine back to King or he'll make you indestructible."
Sudden realisation hit the other rabbit and he looked at his pocket watch before screeching, taking the drugs and running from the room.
Sangatsu sighed and approached you. "Ah, Kuro has quite the bite..." He said a he reached out a gloved hand towards you.
You reacted and slapped his hand away, tears welling and overflowing in your clouded eyes.
That was it. You had had enough. Not only had he pumped you full of chemicals every day, but he had someone else taste you so that he could gather more information on you. In all honesty, you wouldn't have minded if it was him that had bitten you. But it wasn't Sangatsu. He had Kuro do it for him and that's what made you snap. You didn't want anything to do with this man anymore.
--
The next few days followed the same routine. Sleep, get pumped full of Sangatsu's drugs, work on your Rubik's Cube, repeat. You no longer resisted him and the use of restraints was rarely needed unless whatever you took made your body spasm uncontrollably. You had completely given up on your life, and your every action showed that.
--
You sat in your cage with your usual posture; leaning against the back, only your neck, head and shoulders resting against the bars, staring at your Rubik's Cube with empty eyes. You couldn't concentrate today. You were hungry. Starving, at that. Sangatsu usually gave you medicine that filled your stomach so that you wouldn't starve, but he had given you nothing of the sort today.
"You shouldn't sit like that." The rabbit said from his bench. "It's bad for your back."
You only cast your eyes upwards before looking back down to the Cube and turning another section, keeping your same position.
Sangatsu sighed before approaching you and unlocking your cage.
You didn't respond when he held out a hand towards you.
He growled and reached forward, snatching the unfinished cube from your hands.
You stretched your hand outwards, attempting to take the object back from him, but he caught your arm and pulled you towards him. "Come on." He said, pulling you out of the cage and leading you out of the room.
--
You sat in silence on the couch in Sangetsu's room, working on matching the colours of your Rubik's Cube. The said rabbit sat beside you, slicing an apple he held in his hand.
You looked up when he slid a plate of apple slices across the table to you.
"Eat." He said, beginning to slice another apple. "You're hungry, right?"
You tightened your grip on the colourful cube. It was true. The hunger was making your hands shake and you could barely hold the only object that kept you sane. But, there was no way you would give into the man who had betrayed you.
"I'd rather eat sulphur." You said bitterly, you voice husky from lack of use.
Sangatsu sighed and set down the halved apple. "Honestly. I offer you proper food rather than medicine and you say you'd rather consume sulphur of all things?"
You didn't answer as you continued with the cube.
He made an annoyed sound as he snatched the object from your hands and placed it on the opposite side of the table, out of your reach.
"Give it back." You demanded with a quiet, shaky voice. You tried to lean forward, but was easily pushed back by Sangatsu. "I don't have any more of that medicine and until I make more, you'll eat this. I'll force feed you if I have to."
With nothing to occupy your hands, you clenched your fists into small, white, shaky balls and pressed them into your thighs. You looked downwards, avoiding contact with the food that you wanted to badly.
A smirk crept across his lips. "So you won't eat? Well, let's see how long you can last, then."
--
Time passed and your stomach felt as if it might cave in on itself.
Sangatsu sat beside you, silently eating the apple he had cut for himself.
You cast your eyes sidewards towards the open door. The distance to cover wasn't that large. Five, maybe six steps roughly. You took a deep breath before standing abruptly and making a break for the door. You only got maybe two steps before plummeting to the ground.
Sangetsu deliberately took no notice of your escape attempt and continued eating the apple quite happily.
A few moments later, he stood up and made his way out of the room, still not paying any attention to the you laying on the floor and it didn't take long for your body to shut down.
--
You awoke in your cage and your eyes struggled against the darkness that shrouded the room. You found this unusual since Sangatsu usually pulled all-nighters with his quest to become human. Your body shook as a sob wracked through your body. You hated it. You just wanted to die.
You continued to cry, not noticing a pair of tired orange eyes watching you.
